National Grid is hiring a Cyber Operations Analyst, Electrical Planning & Design for our for our Protection Policy & Support and IEC 61850 group in Northborough, MA.
This is a Hybrid Role - 1 to 2 days a week, in office.
Protection Policy & Support and IEC 61850 is looking for a Cyber Operations Analyst to lead and execute Cyber Security and Compliance. The primary areas of responsibility will be to ensure compliance for regulatory requirements in power system protection schemes and the NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) program. In this role you will maintain regulatory compliance based on set intervals, develop procedures and reports to ensure compliance, update design standards, procedures and work practices, and provide support to operations and engineering functions. The Cyber Operations Analyst will work with a cross-functional team to support the development of cyber security practices for operational technology (OT).
- Monitor and review North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) requirements for compliance.
- Develop and Support Cyber Security practices for Operational Technology.
- Develop and update operational policies and standards as required.
- Review protection equipment manufacturer firmware releases for security related updates.
- Develop procedures for security patches and firmware updates to protection systems.
- Perform Cyber Vulnerability evaluations of protective relay equipment and systems.
- Implement and manage access controls for cyber assets.
- Develop training for Engineering and Field personnel for NERC CIP requirements and updates.
- Represent Protection, Control, Metering & Telecom Engineering in NERC CIP Audits.
- Provide technical support to engineering and field personnel.
- Assist in the review of Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC) requirements for Critical Infrastructure Protection and Protection Systems. Ensure requirements are adequately addressed in procedures and standards to demonstrate compliance.
Responsible for the support of NERC CIP and Cybersecurity activities including, but not limited to:
- Quarterly access reviews; annual password change control and reviews; disaster recovery testing and reporting; BES cyber asset list updates; substation electronic security perimeter drawing reviews and updates; password policy reviews; compliance report development as required; responding to change control questions; and maintaining, updating, and performing simple troubleshooting of BES Cyber Asset access controls.
- Provide Cyber Security support and consult in engineering design of protection systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited 4-year institution
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of layer 2 networks and information systems
- Knowledge of protection and control philosophy and design is desirable
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification is a plus
- Demonstrate effective communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) and leadership qualities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) and SharePoint
- Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy to facilitate travel, as required, across US service territory

$77,000 - $91,000 a year
Salary commensurate with location and experience
