As a Customer Service Representativewithin the Macon-Bibb County Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.Under general supervision, communicate with the public, internal customers and/or external customers to provide information and services targeted to meet customer expectations. May resolve complicated issues involving Customer Service and/or research governing policies, procedures, or laws to respond to clients or visitors. The Customer Service Representative is responsible for performing office provision and/or office duties for the Macon Bibb County Health Department such as composing and word processing a variety of documents and correspondence, relaying, and resolving routine telephone and/or walk-in inquiries, scheduling appointments, attend staff meeting and/or training, process forms, data entry, and establishing and maintaining records.
Job Responsibilities:
-Answer phones for the health department
- Schedule appointments for patients & confirm appointments
- Maintain patient accounts & records
- Accepts payment for services
- Insurance verification & updating insurance information
- Responds to community/health department emails & any questions.High school diploma or GED AND completion of 90 quarter hours (60 semester hours) at an accredited college or university OR One year of experience in a Customer Service setting communicating information OR One year of experience required at the lower level Customer Svc Rep 1 (GST120) or position equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong computer and internet skills required MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
• Bilingual, preferably Spanish

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
