Position Overview:
The Customer Service Rep, Utility Energy Efficiency Program will manage and help support a be a part of a sales team of with two other salespersons and direct support outreach efforts, meet sales goals and participate in project planning/coordination for utility demand response (DR) programs. You will deliver innovative solutions while advocating for competitive energy markets and customer choice, working towards a sustainable energy future. This position will report directly to the Program Manager. Program Outreach Manager.

Utility Demand Response (DR) programs will help residential customers temporarily reduce their energy use during periods of critical grid instability when electricity supplies are constrained. By delivering these programs, our customers earn incentive payments for reducing their electrical peak demand.

Location/Travel:
This will be a remote position covering the lower peninsula of Michigan. Ideal candidates will be in or near the following locations:
Saginaw, MI - surrounding areas
Grand Rapids, MI - surrounding areas
Lansing, MI - surrounding areas
Company Vehicle / Expense Account:
Company vehicle is provided (Must have valid driver's license.)
Corporate Travel card will be offered to pay for expenses (No expenses come out of your pocket)
Ideal Candidate:
• Sales and or Customer Service Representative in one of the following industries is preferred: (Energy/Utilities/Telecommunications/Retail/Consumer Direct Selling/Engineering services)
• Strong sales prospecting and ability to creatively secure new customer opportunities.
• Willing to travel both locally and overnight on occasion.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work highly effectively with minimal supervision/remote management.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Possesses exceptional listening and communication skills (phone, email, and in person)
• Outstanding relationship-building skills with a high degree of responsiveness and integrity
• Ability to familiarize oneself with industry knowledge and terminology.
• Achieve or exceed monthly and quarterly sales Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
• Individually as well as directing other sales representatives, develop and maintain a pipeline of interested prospects, consistently updating prospect interaction and results in CRM system.
• Creatively identify new markets, products, and sources of revenue as well as provide recommendations to the organization.
Your Focus:
• Manage a sales team of two for our residential DR programs.
• Strategically drive activities resulting in sales of residential DR programs across multiple locations.
• Schedule and meeting with homeowners and multifamily property managers to assess various home comfort and energy issues.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Drive and manage sales targets in line with the Utility Demand Response programs to enhance our customers incentive payments through the reduction of electrical peak energy demand.
• Conduct research on the customer base to identify potential candidates for the program.
• Initiate contact with customers and other stakeholders to educate them about the program's benefits.
• Collaborate with customers to schedule installation and address their concerns and objections.
• Provide ongoing support to customers throughout the project implementation phase, including answering questions and resolving any issues that may arise.
• Maintain project tracking milestones in a database and analyze market data for reporting purposes.
• Develop and increase the sales pipeline in your team's region.
• Generate new sales leads and fostering any future opportunities across our network.
• Play a key part in setting realistic but stretch targets and goals for your direct reports.
YOU MUST HAVE:
• 2+ years of experience in Customer Service or Sales
• Valid Drivers license
• Tech Savvy (CRM or Customer Relationship Management software)
WE VALUE:
• Bachelor's Degree/Technical Degree
• 2+ years of experience in the energy and/or utilities industry
• 2+ years of project management and/or project planning experience
• Familiarity with smart energy meters and smart grids
