STARTING WAGE: $21.41 per hour
This position is full time, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, year round.  See attached work calendar for exact work dates.

Summary:
The Custodian Trainer will be responsible for training and developing custodial staff members, ensuring they possess the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties effectively. The trainer will work closely with the custodial team, providing guidance, instruction, and support to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety throughout our facilities.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.
  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive custodial training program to ensure consistent adherence to cleaning and maintenance procedures.
  2. Train new custodial staff members on proper cleaning techniques, equipment operation, safety protocols, and organizational policies.
  3. Conduct regular training sessions and workshops for existing custodial staff members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  4. Provide hands-on training, demonstrating cleaning techniques and proper equipment usage.
  5. Assess individual staff members' training needs and create personalized training plans accordingly.
  6. Monitor custodial staff performance and provide constructive feedback to relevant supervisors
  7. Stay updated on the latest cleaning techniques, equipment, and industry best practices, and incorporate them into training programs.
  8. Collaborate with other departments, such as facilities management and HR, to ensure training aligns with organizational goals and policies.
  9. Create training materials, including manuals, visual aids, and presentations, to support the training program.
  10. Maintain accurate training records, including attendance, evaluations, and certifications.
  11. Training on landscaping and snow removal
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in custodial services or related fields is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a custodian or in a similar role, preferably with experience in training or supervising custodial staff.
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and chemicals used in custodial work.
Technical Requirements:
  • Ability to operate a variety of custodial, buildings and grounds maintenance equipment including snow  removal equipment, floor scrubber, floor stripper, washing machine, extractor, floor buffer, vacuum cleaner, pressure washer, etc.
  • Ability to use a variety of mechanics tools, including power tools.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Patience and the ability to adapt training methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to effectively plan and coordinate training sessions.
  • Proficient computer skills to create training materials and maintain training records.
 Communication & Language Skills:
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and/or prepare a variety of documents, including work orders, time cards, facility use permits, , maintenance requests, fire inspection reports, blueprints and other building schematics, custodial handbook, boiler handbook, material data sheets, equipment manuals, etc.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of documents including time cards, supply requisitions, maintenance requests, etc. using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style
  • Ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, and follow instructions with an eye for details.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, students, parents, administrators, service technicians, custodial staff, athletic/activities director, coaches, delivery persons, police officers, School Board members, nurses, the general public, and others verbally and in writing
  • Ability to use technology to accomplish job responsibilities that may include basic knowledge of e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheet software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and motivate staff members.
 Environmental Adaptability
  • Ability to work effectively indoors and outdoors under a variety of conditions
  • Ability to work in a loud and/or dusty environment.
  • Ability to work with hazardous and bio hazardous materials with a conscious awareness of safety including wet floors. 
Physical Requirements
Shall complete a physical examination as required by Wisconsin Statute 118.25.
