Job Description:

Performs custodial maintenance duties for the exterior of the property. Must ensure that all trash and debris is removed from visible areas, grounds, parking lots, driveways, grassy knolls, guest areas, RV parks, as well as backs areas. Must assist in cleaning public facilities, restrooms, offices, café, meeting spaces and outdoor venues. This position will also assist in dusting, mopping, finishing, and buffing floors, wiping / cleaning windows, vacuuming, emptying / removing trash and shampooing carpets, cleaning, and restocking guest amenities.

Note: This position will primarily work out in the exposed environment, sun, wind, rain, heat, and cold climates

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Position requires a) use of power equipment to buff and restore floors and shampoo carpets; b) regular and routine dusting, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash and cleaning restrooms; and c) routine maintenance to custodial equipment.

This is a Full-Time on Campus position, Monday through Friday with weekends as needed.

Requirements:

Requirements & Essential Functions:

  • Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include picking debris, waste, and other trash materials across campus.
  • Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
  • Empties exterior trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
  • Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels; for positions within on-campus, support buildings, warehouse(s), etc.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
  • May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and may answer basic questions. May report issues with vendors to supervisor.
  • May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting landscaping ornaments and /or signage, or other similar activities.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • Policies, procedures, and practices, such as, OSHA, NFPA, NEC and others.
  • Safety guidelines.
  • Tools, equipment, and materials common to the custodian environment.

  • No experience is necessary but must be willing to learn.

Physical Demand & Work Environments:

  • Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to squat, bend, twist, push/pull.
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
  • Work in extreme environments outdoors throughout the year.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud during events.
