Custodial Technician

Fitzsimmons Hospital Services is currently seeking a Custodial Technician to join the Oak Forest, IL team! The right candidate will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of medical equipment. The ideal candidate will implement company developed standards ensuring facility and equipment are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition. Implement safety and infection control procedures emphasizing Universal Precautions.

Normal businesshours of operations are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Job Duties:

• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming inside and outside office/warehouse facility.
• Clean and disinfect bathrooms, breakroom, dining area, and shop.
• Dust computers and monitor screens, and clean desktops daily.
• Empty trash cans in all areas nightly, inserting a new bag in each can.
• Maintain a clean and organized breakroom.
• Wipe telephones nightly with Madacide. Wipe desktops weekly with PineSol.
• Participate in all equipment cleaning and disinfection processes as defined by management.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment to include disinfecting, cleaning, and operational checks. To ensure properly functioning units, perform basic safety, and function checks on equipment according to Fitzsimmons policy and manufacturers’ guidelines. Appropriately bag and tag all equipment and accessory items following disinfection, cleaning and operational checks indicating readiness for further patient use.
• Sanative mattresses, sew any torn or ripped areas, and sanitize again before bagging.
• Ensure the service area in clean and orderly, providing a safe environment for service personnel.
• Upon request, assist with vehicle maintenance is required to ensure vehicles are kept clean and well maintained with regular servicing.
• Ensure that patient-ready equipment and order processing areas are kept clean and organized.
• Assist with inventory counts and accessory kit building when necessary.
• Promote teamwork among co-workers by assisting in other areas of the operations as necessary.
• Promotes and ensures safe techniques are utilized in all aspects of the job and the workplace.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Custodial experience preferred.
• Valid driver license and good working vehicle.
• Satisfactory completion of background check, DOT physical, and drug screening.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Certificate required for driving a company vehicle throughout employment.
• Must be able to lift 90 pounds regularly for loading and unloading medical equipment and supplies.
• In an average 8-hour day, frequent sitting, standing, and walking.

Pay: $18.50 - $19.50 per hour
