About iKids U:
At iKids U, we're not just an after-school program. We're a vibrant community of educators and child care professionals, dedicated to enriching the lives of children through a wide variety of innovative, engaging, exciting, educational experiences. Our mission is to provide a safe, fun, and learning-focused environment for every child, and we're looking for a creative curriculum mind to help us achieve this!
If you're a creative thinker, passionate about play-based learning, and eager to make a difference in the lives of children, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop comprehensive lesson plans tailored for students ranging from Pre-K through 6th grade, with a focus on play-based, whole-child development and learning. Topics will include STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), physical education, language/multi-cultural activities and learning.
  • Ensure that the curriculum creatively addresses both the educational and social-emotional needs of our students.
  • Incorporate the principles of the "flipped classroom" model into curriculum design.
  • Collaborate with our team of educators to ensure the curriculum aligns with iKids U's mission and values.
  • Regularly review and update curriculum based on feedback and changing educational trends.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience (awards are a plus!) in developing lesson plans for children ranging from Pre-K through 6th grade.
  • Familiarity with the "flipped classroom" concept and its practical applications in both a manual/physical and digital delivery environment.
  • Strong understanding and passion for STEAM education.
  • Demonstrated creativity in curriculum design and lesson planning.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ease with technology and online Learning Management systems and MS365.

What We Value:
  • Creativity: We're looking for someone who thinks outside the box. If you see education as more than just textbooks and believe in the power of creative learning, you're our kind of person.
  • Pro-Active Communication: collaborative, respectful, curious communication style and enthusiasm for problem-solving as part of a team.
  • Safety First: Our students' safety is paramount. If you're the kind of person who cares about quality in the details, this role might be for you.
  • Fun & Engagement: We believe learning should be fun, child-appropriate, relational, respectful of diversity, and interactive. (If you're more about traditional, one-size fits all methods and less about hands-on differentiated experiences, we are not the right fit).
  • Commitment to Learning: Our students come first. We're passionate about creating an environment where every child can thrive in our group activities.
  • Growth Mindset: Not just for our students, but our team members also have to be willing to embrace the possibility of failing and redoing things to get them 'just right' for release, knowing we may have to make updates soon again after field testing. (Perfectionists are not a good fit with us as our work is never quite done and they would be frustrated with our approach...).
  • Dreaming Big: The afterschool world is extremely fragmented, underserved, and spotty in terms of consistent quality, which directly impacts children for better or for worse. We are on a mission to improve the landscape dramatically and our curriculum is an essential tool in our toolkit to do so.
  • Integrity: We work hard to improve our service and ourselves. We play hard and honor our achievements. We work well with those who have integrity, and we don't work with those who don't. We own our mistakes. We work hard to improve our service and ourselves.

Other important things to know when applying for this job:
  • Flexible Work Environment: This role is based in the Austin, Texas metro area and combines office and remote work with necessary on-site visits for field testing and collaboration The balance of remote and in-person work is integral to our process and ensures the highest quality of curriculum development.
  • Open to Teams and Individuals: Whether you're an individual expert or part of a skilled curriculum writing team, we're interested in your talent. We value proven experience and a history of creating engaging educational content.
  • Essential Requirements: Please be prepared to provide professional references and original samples of your work. These elements are crucial for our comprehensive review process.
  • Culture and Creativity: We pride ourselves on a workplace environment that fosters fun and innovation. If you have unique experiences or contributions that align with our mission and demonstrate your creativity, we encourage you to share!
  • Your application is the first step toward becoming a part of something impactful. We appreciate your interest in contributing to our educational mission and look forward to exploring your professional and creative landscape.

To apply:
Please submit your resume, a cover letter detailing your relevant experience, and at least two sample lesson plans you've developed for Pre-K- 6th graders and one preferably related to a STEAM topic. If you have other curriculum items/ideas you'd like to share that you feel can add value to your application, please feel free to submit those as well. We are respectful of copyrighted materials and expect our team members to uphold high standards in this regard as well. Thank you for your interest in this position and joining our team!
