The Curatorial Intern will assist the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’s curations and collections teams in many duties related to exhibit preparation such as research, layout, and cataloging. This opportunity will allow the Curatorial Intern to gain practical, hands-on museum experience while under the mentorship of our Director of Curatorial Affairs.

Tasks & Duties

• Assist with accessioning
• Assisting with artifact layouts for our major exhibits
• Artifact research
• Artifact collection
• Collaborate with collections team as needed (cataloging, photography, etc.).
• Photo documentation
• Artifact and Gallery cleaning
• Research as needed
• Data input

Possible projects

• Assist in curating/collecting a set of artifacts for an upcoming exhibit and overseeing the processes to get them on exhibit
• Researching artifact background for the museum's early acquisitions
• Assist in all aspects/processes for major exhibit opening in 2024

Requirements & Qualifications

• Museum or history studies major
• Previous research experience
• Detail oriented
• Passion for music history
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Flexible and able to adjust to changing demands
• Must be proficient in computer skills including Office 365
• Experience with Axiell a plus
• Available to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed

ELIGIBILITY

Intern applicants must be currently enrolled in a college (preferably entering senior year after summer 2024) or graduate school program.

Details

• Rock Hall internships are paid positions and for enrichment purposes must be willing to work within other departments. This includes working scheduled shifts with the Fan Engagement and Museum Retail teams.
• The internship is onsite, starting May 29th and ending August 16th. Exact end dates could be flexible with some internships.
• Estimated weekly hours for this internship: 35 hours

All intern positions will get a chance to work on the floor of the museum to learn firsthand how we create the world class guest experience for our visitors from around the globe. Lastly, all our interns will get to experience summer at the Rock Hall and Cleveland, getting to know the city that help build Rock & Roll, and all the events and excitement we curate each summer.
