Job description

The Culinary Supervisor is responsible for the overall daily operations and management of the Dietary Department. Must plan and create high quality meals and excellent dining experiences for residents by preparing and serving attractive, nutritious and palatable meals consistent with regulations and established policies and procedures. Trains staff to meet and maintain high quality standards consistent with dietary department standards.

Manage Food Production and Meal Service:

  • Prepare menus and meals for residents. Prepare, as needed, meals for special dietary requests
  • Ensure food is prepared in a nutritious and appetizing manner
  • Prioritize tasks and complete assignments within allotted time
  • Maintain a positive image and adhere to all company policies
  • Monitor and maintain the dining and kitchen area for cleanliness and safety
  • Provide exceptional friendly service and a comfortable dining experience for residents.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with residents, guests, and others within the community
  • Follow food safe and sanitation policies and procedures
  • Oversee dietary policies and procedures and conduct ongoing training to develop and maintain excellence in dietary practices ; confer with management and staff as necessary
  • Manage department within budgetary guidelines
  • Ensure all organizational and governmental standards and regulations concerning dietary services are met and maintained
  • Direct and conduct safety, sanitation and maintenance programs. Demonstrate and train safe work practices , i.e. electric cords, wet floors, grease disposal, etc.
  • Order and maintain supplies and appliances
  • Order food and/ or conduct grocery shopping within dietary and budgetary guidelines
  • Foster strong inter-departmental relations and integrate the dietary department with operations
  • Present professional image of all dietary staff by wearing approved attire and following grooming guidelines

Abilities:

  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Must maintain confidentiality regarding resident information.
  • Ability to relate professionally & work cooperatively with residents & staff at all levels

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to reach overhead, squat, kneel, and perform repetitive actions.
  • Ability to lift 20 to 50 pounds of force semi-frequently.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Obtain Food Handlers Permit (as required by state regulations)

Education and Experience Preferences:

  • Culinary experience: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Cooking: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Formerly trained in culinary arts.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

  • Eyota, MN 55934: Relocate before starting work (Required)
