Position Summary
The Culinary Lab Technician supports culinary faculty, and students with activities in the Culinary Lab. This position will place all orders for the culinary program and assist in the set-up, upkeep, and sanitation practices of all areas in the Culinary Lab. This position will assist in receiving, storing, and the distribution of all food and supplies. This position works closely with faculty for inventory and procurement, control and record keeping, checking in deliveries, assuring proper storage, and distribution. This position ensures that all kitchen and lab systems are maintained and operated properly.
Duties & Responsibilities

• Support Culinary Lab procedures to assist in monitoring access to the Culinary Labs.
• Maintain vendor relationships to work with faculty, and staff to place orders in a timely manner for scheduled classes.
• Tracks fiscal documents and records, including purchase orders and receipts.
• Maintains oversight of all food and supply orders and inventory for the culinary program.
• Provides inventory data support and helps in budgeting.
• Assists in identifying repair and maintenance issues and facilitates necessary repairs and safety compliance for Culinary Labs.
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the labs. This could include a combination of effort from this position, Lab Stewards, and/or outside vendors.
• Maintains SFCC professional standards and practices on and off campus.
• Ensures day-to-day support and that all kitchen and lab systems are maintained and operated properly.
• Attends relevant department meetings.

Knowledge Skills / Abilities:

• Knowledge of general culinary procurement, procedures, and systems. Experience in basic word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, inventory control tools and software. Familiarity with food and beverage vendors and supply companies.
• Must have excellent communication skills, verbal and written, time management and organizational skills.
• Must have a professional understanding of cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining a Culinary Laboratory or facility.

Abilities / Skills

• Able to bend, stoop and lift 50 lbs. minimum; walk and stand 50% of the day.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree
• one-year culinary industry experience required, particularly in the areas of food and beverage purchasing and inventory control.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Culinary Education.
• Experience in food handling or restaurant setting.
• ServSafe or similar certification
