Data Center Critical Facilities Specialist II - Chiller Plant Technician

As the skilled Chiller Plant Technician, we will rely on you to be responsible for the day-to-day operations, efficiency, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the chiller plant infrastructure in support of the attainment of 100% up time and adherence to all operating and safety procedures at all times. The Chiller Plant Technician is a key member of the Iron Mountain Critical Infrastructure (CI) team. The CI team supports a 24x7x365 work schedule and travel to other locations may be required – expected travel is anticipated to be minimal. IMDC is looking for self-motivated team members who have a strong sense of urgency, and dedication to your team, our customers and IMDC’s vision. This is a full-time shift position, and may be required to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor operation of chiller plant infrastructure; track performance data and key metrics and record as required

  • Ensure chiller plant infrastructure is operated in a safe manner and all operating procedures are adhered to

  • Operate chiller plant infrastructure in the most cost effective manner without sacrificing reliability and delivery requirements to the customer

  • Responsible for performing maintenance corrective action of any abnormal operating condition to rectify the problem if it is within the ability to be performed safely and properly. Assists with all repairs; test, replace, install, operate, repair, and maintain all pumping equipment, using necessary hand tools and testing equipment

  • Identify, recommend, obtain approval for, and implement operating improvements and modifications

  • Maintain constant and contemporaneous awareness of new technical developments and emerging industry practices

  • Perform routine water treatment systems equipment inspections and performance including documentation of operational data, checking and adjusting of controls on equipment as necessary

  • Learn and understand the operation of each piece of plant equipment and its normal operating condition.

  • Acts as a team member with all employees while complying with all policies and procedures

  • Position will be assigned further responsibilities including, but not limited to, certain maintenance/housekeeping and administrative tasks deemed appropriate

  • Conduct daily sampling and testing of chemical treatment systems. Including the proper operation of the water treatment with the shift operations teams, ensuring all teams adhere to the proper procedures & guidelines

  • Assists with ordering supplies and equipment through manager, to maintain adequate stock for daily operation and planned activities

Qualifications:

  • EPA Universal Certification

  • 1-3 years progressively responsible experience in plant equipment management in large facilities with exposure to the following: Trane chiller systems, HVAC/R electrical, plumbing, energy management systems, Safety and OSHA standards, use of computer tracking and data analysis systems

  • Multi tasking - we use several different systems to manage ticket queues and work tasks can change throughout the day

  • Attention to detail - ability to understand and follow a documented process and Iron Mountain’s safety code, role is very process driven

  • Organization & prioritization - following processes and managing your time with minimal supervision to get work done efficiently and on time

  • Dedication & desire to learn - we would like you to grow your career within Iron Mountain

  • Customer service mentality - we are customer obsessed

  • Opportunities for overtime work will be available.

  • Working hours are varied and nights, weekends and holidays may be required.

  • The ability to obtain security clearance via government or other agency background check may be required for customer support.
