This position is responsible for a variety of functions related to administrative and support of direct care staff and their implementation of the treatment plan for each resident. Performs responsibilities to maintain compliance with licensure, COA, state, and federal standards. Supports staff to address complex psychiatric, emotional, sexual, and behavioral issues coupled with poor impulse control, poor social skills, and deficient coping skills, requiring a highly structured treatment milieu. Models and assists with training on de-escalation techniques in crisis situations. Also supports direct care staff in following programming, operations procedures including policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure direct care staff-to-resident ratio is maintained in all units as prescribed by licensure standards.
- Assist managers in deployment or reassignments, as needed to meet the staff needs, often in response to unusual circumstances.
- Ensures direct care staff are providing constant supervision of residents and adherence to programming schedules, including, but not limited to education, recreation, and groups.
- Ensures that residents comply with agency/program rules and regulations.
- Reinforces the goals and objectives of individual treatment plans for residents by positively reinforcing strengths and addressing areas for continued development.
- Monitors behaviors and responds to irregularities or problems, considering past trauma and triggers, including, but not limited to tone of voice, physical boundaries, and touch.
- Assists direct care staff with behavior management techniques as prescribed by Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, to de-escalate, redirect, and, when posing a threat to themselves or others, initiate and/or participate in physical restraints.
- Support direct care staff and assist in maintaining the therapeutic environment of units during behavior intervention.
- Participates in debriefing committee following an incident.
- Oversees documentation of IR and Behavior Tracks.
- Provides breaks for staff as determined by QA Manager and Director of Operations.
Possesses a minimum high school education certified by diploma or equivalent with at least two years’ experience in health care setting or equivalency and a valid driver’s license.
