We are starting a Criminal Justice program here in September and we are looking for an instructor with a law enforcement background to teach one class period per day, 5 days per week for the school year. The program focuses on a range of Criminal Justice topics and is intended to prepare students to enter a college program after graduation. The Criminal Justice Instructor will work collaboratively with the Fire Science and EMT instructor as there are common projects and students enrolled in both programs. I have included the generic description below.
Becoming a certified instructor in Career & Technical Education subjects like Criminal Justice does NOT require a college degree, however it does require industry certification in the field such as a certification as a law enforcement officer. Those with experience at the Federal, state, or local level of law enforcement or public security are encouraged to apply.
This course will introduce the student to the field of policing and criminology. We will review the historical underpinnings of the modern day study of police standards as well as the importance of forensic science in today’s society. Students will be introduced to modern forensics and criminal techniques through lab instruction. They will examine the theoretical causes of crime and criminality to include society’s response to these behaviors. The student will learn of general problems within areas of criminal and juvenile justice laws.
