The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Crime Analyst to collect, process, analyze and distribute various data, statistics and information related to crime; evaluate data pertaining to crime in the City and produce reports for submittal to supervisory personnel; maintain and update intelligence data files; provide complex analytical support to the Police Department.- Ability to query, edit and manipulate data across multiple tables, using programs such as Crystal Reports, SQL, Excel, Access and/or related backgrounds.
- Collect, research, analyze and distribute data and information related to criminal activities in the community; compile information into reports; maintain various intelligence and criminal activity files.
- Compile daily activity summaries and disseminate data present findings to sworn staff at all levels, and/or upper-level executives in other departments or agencies when appropriate.
- Create and manage charts including association matrices and timelines using Analyst Notebook.
- Research, document data requested by police and other City personnel; coordinate analysis of crime statistics with other departments.
- Identify, summarize and report significant trends and patterns indicated by data; make recommendations for addressing criminal activity trends to department management.
- Provide complex analytical support to the department for various special projects and assignments.
- Research various information and criminal activity through computer database and/or hard copies and assist other department personnel in searching these files.
- Establish good working relationships and be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Appropriately handle sensitive information with the ability to multitask and prioritize appropriately.

Experience:
Two years of experience in statistical research and data analysis in a Police Department, other law enforcement agency or military intelligence.
Training:
Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited community college with major course work in criminal justice, criminology, data science, geographic information sciences, or a related field.
LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Ability to acquire DCI/NCIC Level I & II Certification within one year of employment.
Preferred:
Certified Law Enforcement Analyst (CLEA) and/or Criminal Intelligence Certified Analyst (CICA).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position is subject to pre-employment polygraph and/or CVSA testing.
- Must be a U. S. Citizen.
Per North Carolina Administrative Code - "A conviction of a crime or unlawful act defined as a Class B misdemeanor renders an applicant or certified DCIN user ineligible to become certified as a DCIN user when such conviction is within 10 years of the application date of request for DCIN certification. A conviction of a felony or two or more Class B misdemeanors regardless of the date of conviction renders an applicant or certified DCIN user permanently ineligible to hold such certification."
From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background investigation and a driving history check and a polygraph/CVSA examination to be conducted by the Police Department.
