About the Department


The Cornell University Office of the University Registrar (OUR) implements and monitors many academic and administrative policies in coordination with academic units, departments, colleges, and schools to facilitate faculty teaching and student learning. The Office of the University Registrar acts as the steward of academic and student information. The Office of the Registrar champions the constant renewal of student information systems, adapts operations to changing academic needs, federal, state, and institution policies, and evaluates administrative processes for services improvements.


The Opportunity


The Credit Evaluation Coordinator will be responsible for providing quality control and daily processing of all student records. This professional will implement process improvements and conduct daily processing of student-related activities to ensure compliance with Institution, DoD, Federal, and State regulations and must utilize independent judgment and decision-making throughout the evaluation process. They will support OUR analysis and implementation of quality improvement throughout various procedures and conduct quality control on various student records tasks throughout the lifecycle of the student, from admission application process to graduation for all Cornell University programs.


The primary responsibilities of the Credit Evaluation Coordinator include but are not limited to:

  • Provide quality control and daily processing of all transfer and test credits via transcript OCR software and PeopleSoft.
  • Assist with the implementation of process improvements.
  • Serve as an administrator of the Transfer Equivalency System (TES), including overseeing the official website for the system, providing training, and overseeing the approval of course equivalencies.
  • Conduct research and analyses of course descriptions and transfer credit policies to evaluate and determine college credit transfer credit eligibility; update transfer credit articulation data in corresponding TES and SIS.
  • Communicate with faculty, academic departments, prospective and enrolled transfer students, and external institutions regarding transfer and test Credit Evaluation practices and policies.
  • Create and assist with the management and maintenance of Student Information System (SIS) and TES articulation modules and tables for internal users and external transfer institutions.
  • Facilitate in the timely creation, review, and processing of Articulation agreements for external transfer institutions.
  • Analyze and assess student academic and non-collegiate records to ensure accurate and compliant test and transfer Credit Evaluations.
  • Assist in the development of communications related to transfer students including the transfer website.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement based in Ithaca, NY.


What We Need:


For full consideration, applicants must include both a resume and cover letter with their application.

  • Bachelor’s degree and up to 2 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, in higher education student and transfer services with an in-depth understanding of student records administration.
  • Aptitude for problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, customer service, organization, adaptability, and ability to effectively work on a team or independently.A successful candidate should have a forward-thinking approach to problem solving.
  • Working knowledge of a Student Information System, including but not limited to course, class, test/transfer articulation and enrollment modules.
  • Ability to solicit, document and communicate business requirements, problems, issues, and solutions to technical and non-technical users.
  • Familiarity with standard office software packages and reporting tools.

If you have all those things, great! We have a few more things that we would prefer you to have, but it’s ok if you don’t:

  • Experience with project management tools.
  • Experience using PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Student Information System.
  • Experience in transfer credit processes, such as researching and evaluating academic programs at domestic and international institutions.
  • Knowledge of degree audit solutions such as Stellic or (PeopleSoft) Campus Solutions.
  • Knowledge of curriculum management such as Modern Campus/Digital Architecture or CourseLeaf.
  • Knowledge of platforms that support transfer and test credit work, such as PeopleSoft Transfer Credit Articulation, Transfer Evaluation System (TES), or Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technologies.
  • Experience in data analysis and report development.
