Job description

Responsible for the day-to-day activities of a team of Credit Administration personnel to include the quality and efficiency of commercial and/or ag loan analyses. Complete analysis for large and/or complex commercial or ag credit relationships, manage Credit related processes and projects, and provide guidance/training for new credit analysts and lenders.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage a team of Credit Department personnel while offering daily support and direction to Credit Analysts and other lending staff.
  • Perform credit analyses and financial statement reviews on complex loans, industries, and commercial and ag loan relationships.
  • Manage and prioritize credit workflows and scheduling. Monitor workflows of subordinates. Work with loan officers to obtain material missing information before assigning to a credit analyst for underwriting.
  • Participate in loan committee meetings. Provides recommendations for updates and changes to loan policy. Engages commercial lenders and commercial staff for process change recommendations.
  • Responsible for overseeing the production of a complete Credit Analysis document that recognizes relevant risks and mitigating factors associated with each credit request.
  • Make and oversee approval or denial decisions or recommendations on credit requests as required under predetermined lending limits.
  • Review and make recommendations for applicable changes to risk ratings that are based on established written parameters.
  • Investigate all available sources of credit and financial information, including credit bureaus, Experian Business Credit, the Risk Management Association, industry trends and other companies.
  • Participate in management discussions of credit-related borrowing issues concerning individual borrowers and/or policies.
  • Serve as a senior level Credit Administration resource to internal customers and fulfill miscellaneous requests for reports or other information from internal customers.
  • Support other segments of Credit Analysis as assigned, such as miscellaneous loan or credit related reporting, tracking, and monitoring.
  • Coordinate updates to credit related processes, writes procedures and develops or updated analysis templates as needed.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of accounting or regulatory changes and the effect on Bank credits.
  • Serve as an administrator for software systems under the Credit Department’s responsibility, as assigned.
  • Lead and/or participate in potentially large and complex projects to streamline productivity, create efficiencies, and scale the Bank for growth.
  • Meets with staff regularly (both 1:1 and in group meetings) to organize sales efforts, communicate procedural/product changes, and resolve issues to optimize performance and employee engagement. Establish regular coaching opportunities with each team member to review goals and highlight further personal development.
  • Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates the staff to enhance individual productivity and enable them to function according to their respective job description.
  • Other credit-related projects and training as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and/or commensurate banking experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in banking; commercial Credit Analysis experience preferred.
  • Management experience desired.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Bank’s software systems including Premier, Business Analytics, and Sageworks. Demonstrate the ability to create and edit reports in Business Analytics.
  • Formal advanced training in Microsoft Excel preferred.
Skills:
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills including analyzing complex data and high attention to detail.
  • Extensive knowledge of credit underwriting, regulatory requirements, and documentation standards for all types of loans, including the ability to suggest loan structure alternatives that minimize policy exceptions.
  • Forms independent opinions on credit and recognizes emerging risks.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, presentation, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to substantiate analyses with detailed workpapers.
  • High level of confidence and integrity in order to maintain independent judgment and privacy of customer and Bank information.
  • Demonstrates ability to self-manage with minimal supervision and work effectively without detailed instruction.
  • Comfortable in a team environment working under pressure with deadlines.
