Job Description
The Credentialing Assistant is responsible for activities related to Hospital Based Medicine (HBM)-main and HBM Outreach Faculty credentialing, privileging processes, and reappointment applications. Ensuring all are completed efficiently and effectively in accordance with established regulatory agencies, accreditation organizations.
Essential Job Functions:

  • Serves as the first-contact liaison to the Medical School Faculty Affairs Office (FSM-FAO), the employed faculty, Lurie Children's MSO, and all Outreach Partner Hospital MSOs, and medical school administration for any issues or questions relating to faculty affairs.
  • Works collaboratively with Corporate Outreach Leadership team overseeing Physician credentialing:
  • Submit (RFA) Request for Application
  • Submit Outreach Pre-App and Full App request to the Outreach Site(s)
  • Submit Managed Care Request to FPP
  • Assist Faculty member with completion of Initial Application
  • Assist Faculty member with Faculty Appointment requirements.
  • Assist MSO Staff with follow-ups with new hires for all requested documentation.
  • Assist with day-to-day recruiting activities, questions, and problems as they occur.
  • Assist with onboarding activities related to the faculty.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with Lurie Children's Medical Staff Office and Managed Care Department offices and maintain strong relationships with existing and new outreach partnering hospitals Medical Staff Offices to facilitate credentialing processes.
  • Maintain HBM/Outreach Divisional database for all Faculty Physicians compliance with staff privileges, licensure, faculty appointments, credentialing, at Lurie Children's and Outreach Hospitals.
  • Monitors compliance and competency requirements at all institutions (i.e., annual disclosure process).
  • Performs Administrative job duties within the scope of the non-lead/non-supervisory job classification to establish and maintain the integrity of the credentialing and privileging operations.
  • Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of credentialing and privileging required.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with Microsoft applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio with the ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with all levels of personnel, both within and beyond the hospital and medical school.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.
