Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY
The Creative Arts Therapist is responsible for utilizing CREATIVE ARTS therapy techniques to facilitate understanding and practice of coping skills, as well as to foster and enhance communication, self-esteem, creativity, socialization, and physical movement of assigned patients. The Creative Arts Therapist will ensure the program is appropriate to the needs and interest of patients and is directed toward restoring and maintaining optimal levels of physical and psychosocial functioning. The Creative Arts Therapist will actively participate in treatment planning and implementing activity services for the inpatient population, which involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients under the direction of the Experiential Therapies Manager. The Creative Arts Therapist may assist the Experiential Therapies Manager in training and administrative duties as assigned. They may perform other duties as assigned by the Experiential Therapies Manager or the Director of Clinical Services.

- Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapy, or Drama Therapy
- Agency Affiliated Counselor credential to be obtained upon offer. Lack of "pending" status on DOH website within 30 days of hire will result in immediate suspension until "pending" status is listed.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Successful completion of Verbal De-Escalation and Handle with Care certifications, CPR and First Aid; provided during Fairfax new hire training.
