JOB SUMMARY

  • This position is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, electronic and hydraulic systems on all cranes to include gantry, friction, mobile cranes and support equipment to ensure that equipment downtime is kept to the absolute minimum.
  • Provides instruction and leadership to the Crane Technicians in the proper maintenance and operation of electronic, electric, mechanical, cable systems and electro-hydraulic systems for different types of equipment.
  • Troubleshoots all systems (electronic, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical) and makes repairs in a professional manner on all cranes, mobile and support systems.
  • Effectively utilizes the maintenance management system to administer the periodic maintenance programs and maintenance documentation.
  • Operates all cranes and support equipment as required to make tests of all systems, other maintenance operations and cargo handling.
  • Monitor systems of all cranes and support equipment, diagnose problems with proficiency.
  • Maintains crane operation records and equipment rental records on all equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and maintenance checks using specialty tools and test equipment.
  • Performs minor modifications to existing equipment for new applications.
  • Will be required to be in an "on-call" status as determined by the Asset Manager or Assistant Equipment Manager where assigned to support operational environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.


Experience:
  • Minimum of five to seven years' experience in mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems required.


License/Certifications: None

Knowledge:
  • A solid understanding of mechanical and electro-hydraulic systems is required.


Skills Required:
  • Must be able to read and understand schematics, blueprints and equipment manuals.
  • Must be proficient in diagnosing Programmable Logic Controllers and Crane Drive Systems.


Travel: None

Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver license is required and must be maintained during employment.
  • Class B Florida CDL with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements is required and must be maintained during employment.
  • This position is designated as safety sensitive and is subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) during employment.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Constantly remain in a stationary position.
  • Constantly move, traverse inside office or on JAXPORT property to accomplish job duties.
  • Constantly operate, use or handle equipment, tools, computers and other office machinery.
  • Constantly ascend, descend, work atop, traverse on ladders, equipment and buildings to perform maintenance and safety functions. Heights up to 200 feet.
  • Constantly position self to move, to maintain or repair equipment on terminal or in office.
  • Constantly detect, determine, identify, recognize, observe, inspect to read and use computers.
  • Constantly detect, converse with, convey, exchange information with others via radio, telephone. Ability to listen to equipment to troubleshoot
  • Continuously move, transport and position, material up to 25 pounds and frequently up to 75 pounds.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk.
