The Company

Located directly across the street from the historic Castillo de San Marcos in Saint Augustine, Florida, City Gate Spirits brings locally distilled, flavored spirits to downtown Saint Augustine. Specializing in flavored rum, vodka, moonshine, and whiskey; we offer a flavor for just about every palate. We distill, blend, and bottle our products on-site using premium ingredients, putting our heart and soul into every batch. Our mission is to bring the craft approach to flavored spirits.

We aim to deliver an unforgettable experience to the visitors of St Augustine. We do this by offering a delicious line of handcrafted flavored spirits, which are produced on-site, sampled and sold at our breathtaking location in the heart of historic downtown Saint Augustine.

The Position

The Tasting Guide will deliver a short free tasting demonstration which aims to present our line of handcrafted flavored spirits in a fun and entertaining way. The Tasting Guide will walk a group of guests through the different varieties of spirits we offer, pour samples of each flavor, and discuss the inspiration behind their creation, how they taste, and highlight potential recipes and uses.

The ideal candidate for this role is someone who likes to perform and entertain, knows how to craft a great story, and does not take themselves too seriously. The Tasting Guide should know how to laugh, and more importantly, know how to make our guests laugh. The ideal candidate will be able to succeed in a rapidly changing work environment and would be comfortable making suggestions of how to improve guest experience.

Experience in a hospitality or customer service environment is a must. Experience or background in performing arts preferred but not required. Experience in a bar or restaurant setting is helpful but not required.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Offer a warm, open welcome to all our visitors

• Host a 10-15 minute tasting presentation demonstrating City Gate Spirits product line

• Be well presented at all times

• Promote bulk spirit deals

• Recommend merchandise based on the individual and their selection

• Build trusting relationships with customers

• Assess and identify customer interest and needs

• Answer customers’ questions and concerns with strong product knowledge

• Maintain clean and tidy environment at the tasting bar

Requirements:

• Aspires to be a part of a tight-knit team in a small, local business

• Excellent customer service to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction

• Stellar communication and interpersonal skills

• Working knowledge or willingness to learn about Craft Spirits, cocktails, and distillation process

• Proficient in English, bilingual is a plus

• Able to stand for long periods of time

• Able to lift 35 pounds or more

• At least 21 years old

• Have high school diploma or GED, a BS degree in marketing, education or related field is a plus

Hours:

Part Time: 25-30 hours per week

Full Time: 40 hours per week
