CRA Mortgage Loan Officer

We are currently looking for a Community Reinvestment Act (‘CRA’) Mortgage Loan Officerto join our Residential Lending team.
Job Summary
The Community Reinvestment Act (‘CRA’) Mortgage Loan Officer is a brand ambassador within the local community helping to promote NASB’s committed investment in the community, to cultivate trust and to drive strategic lending growth toward meeting our local, underserved, and low-to-moderate (‘LMI’) lending goals. The CRA Loan Officer will establish and maintain relationships with realtors, community-based organizations, and governmental agencies which result in lending opportunities for the bank to ensure full compliance with the CRA regulation.
What you can expect to work on
  • Identify and consult with prospects, explain features and benefits of the various mortgage products available, understand lending needs, determine best alternatives, and communicate with prospects and internal partners to finalize sales.
  • Network, develop and expand referral sources that solicit leads to meet local, underserved, LMI income and LMI geography lending goals. Cultivate trust and strong relationships with strategic community partners including relationships with realtors, Housing Authorities, developers, builders, community-based organizations, and municipalities.
  • Plan, organize and speak at financial education seminars, community development events, meetings, or forums. Collaborate with the Community Development Manager in the planning and execution of community development efforts focused on increasing CRA lending opportunities.
  • Maintain metric reporting on lead outcomes and community engagement. Consult with community partners and various areas of the bank to identify opportunities for lending programs and associated outreach. Collaborate with NASB Branches to track and monitor referral activity.
What you offer us
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting or related field preferred
  • 2-5 years mortgage lending, sales, or similar financial services experience
  • Knowledge / experience in CRA and Fair Lending preferred, with a thorough understanding of all facets of mortgage lending.
  • Ability to review, interpret and understand complex transactions, multiple property types and markets, varying loan structures and their impact on security of collateral.
  • Ability to tailor origination options while balancing the requirements of the bank and borrowers.
  • Effective business communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills – must be detail-oriented and thorough.
  • Initiative-taker with excellent customer service skills and follow-through. Must be able to take initiative and act independently multitasking in managing projects and programs.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; Ability to effectively interact with individuals in all areas of the bank and the local community.
  • Ability to develop and present information in varied mediums.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills.
  • Computer literate; experience using Microsoft Office applications and ability to understand and navigate proprietary systems.
Work Environment
  • This position will be a hybrid-based schedule with a combination of in-office and remote work.
  • This position will be based out of one of our banking branch offices in the Kansas City, MO metro.
