Job Description
Robert Half is recruiting Court Runners for a long-term, part-time contract opportunity. Are you interested?
This role will be remote to your area but will involve going to the designated courthouse to retrieve documents on a daily or weekly basis. The hours per week will not exceed 40 and could be as low as 0 on some occasions. This is a true part-time position that requires flexibility.
This position will involve visiting local courts daily or multiple times a week and review court filings. Court Runners will collect legal documents based on requirements established through training on the key filings, rulings, and data. They will scan the documents into a database for client access. Court Runners will be interacting with key court personnel to ensure getting appropriate and speedy access to relevant documents.
The daily job duties of a Court Runner are:
- Before going to the courthouse, Runners will use their work laptop to research the cases that they will need to obtain from the courthouse.
- Once they have gathered a list of cases that they need, they’ll go to the courthouse to get them. This could be once a day, or a few times per week, depending on the need.
- Once at the courthouse, they will either pick up copies the court has for them, make copies on their own, or download and print copies of the cases they need.
- They’ll need to review those filings to be sure they are pulling the correct case types for that location (manager will discuss which types are required).
- Once they have the case documents, they will return home.
- Once home, they will use their work-provided scanner to scan the documents.
- Once the documents are scanned onto their work computer, they will then upload those documents into an online portal.
- Finally, at 6pm local time they’ll send a report to their manager letting them know which cases were pulled and which cases were uploaded for that day.
Skills required:

- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Legal background is a significant plus, but not required.
- Willing to travel to local courthouse weekly (or daily if needed).
- Must be ok with any amount of hours per week (could be 0-20 depending on the courthouse’s schedule that week).
- Must be dependable in attendance and responsive in communication.
