As a Court Administrator for the City, you will be overseeing the supervision and management of court staff. This position directs the daily operation of the Municipal Court, implementing and developing programs which support the effective management of court cases.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Supervise, train and direct court personnel; monitor, assign and review work; schedule work hours; prepare performance evaluations; participate in the recruitment and hiring of court personnel; make recommendations and administer disciplinary actions, including reprimanding, suspending and terminating employment, as required. Encourage staff participation in municipal training and certification programs.
- Coordinates court programs with Municipal Judge(s) and Prosecutors; explains, interprets and implements new laws relating to the operation of the Municipal Court,
- Manage case flow and workload of Municipal Court to ensure cases are processed in a timely and effective manner.
- Develop court calendars and schedules, report disposition information to appropriate agencies.
- Maintain accurate financial reports to ensure correct reporting and disbursement; review and reconcile receipts for payments of fines and fees; prepare daily bank deposit; assists with preparation of budget; monitor expenditures and costs.
- Develop policies and procedures for effective administration of the Court; review, interpret and analyze new legislation to determine effects on operations and programs; ensure policies and requirements of the city and court, as well as state law are met and maintained.
- Compile and submit statistical and financial reports to the City, State Office of Court Administration and Texas Judicial Council.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
Formal Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Public Administration, Judicial Administration, and related disciplines or extensive responsible experience in senior-level court administration, staff supervision, and team leadership.
Relatable Work Experience: Five (5) years of related legal, judicial, or government administration experience.
Training, Licenses, and Certifications: Certified Court Clerk III within the first two years of employment. Completion of training programs for Municipal Court and attend ongoing training, as required.
Preferred Qualifications: Texas Municipal Clerks Certification. Seven (7) years working in a Municipal Court environment. Bilingual in Spanish. Five (5) years of supervisory experience.
Disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
