Counselor Supervisors are responsible for:
In addition to regularly performing duties of Counselor II, supervises other counselors, and guides and directs activities and operations of assigned treatment program.
Under general supervision, provides support, intervention, direction, and conflict resolution to encourage clients through difficult phases of recovery during substance use disorder treatment.
Conducts comprehensive assessments to develop and implement complex treatment plans for clients with dual diagnoses, social or mental health issues.
Plans and schedules work time and caseload for assigned staff, and audits client records and documentation.
Responsible for orienting, training and developing assigned staff.
Interprets and enforces area Policies and Procedures and assists in the development of corrective actions.
Serves as resource to assigned staff in identifying and resolving complex case problems.
Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Professional Counseling, and a full and unencumbered Professional Clinical License or Certification in Substance Abuse in the State of Michigan (CADC and/or CCJP) with no pending or ongoing investigations, AND
- Three (3) years of clinical therapy treatment experience including conducting substance abuse group cognitive behavioral based relapse and recidivism treatment with criminal offenders, preferably including two years of experience as a clinical supervisor.
OR
- Bachelor’s degree, and current Certified Clinical Supervisor credential (CCS), AND
- Three (3) years of clinical therapy treatment experience including conducting substance abuse group cognitive behavioral based relapse and recidivism treatment with criminal offenders. Must include two (2) years of solid supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to speak with others in order to exchange information and provide counseling.
- Ability to record and proofread information on forms and charts.
- Ability to respond to telephones and pages, and hear speech.
- Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data on a regular basis.
