Counsel - Data Privacy & Security (Hybrid)

A Telecommunications Company has an immediate opening for an attorney with experience primarily in the Data Privacy and data security areas at its Corporate Headquarters in Bridgewater, NJ. This position will report to the Deputy General Counsel and be part of a small, but extremely busy Legal and Contracts team.
Responsibilities:
The qualified candidate for this position would be expected to:

• Support the company's Data Privacy and data security programs, and assist with developing, updating, and maintaining policies and procedures relating to Data Privacy, data security, export control, and intellectual property.
• Keep current with new laws, regulations and developments in the privacy area and provide advice regarding the impact that these laws, regulations and developments may have on the company's products and services.
• Assist with corporate governance and legal compliance support for both the company and its international subsidiaries.
• Provide legal support for potential M&A opportunities.
• Work closely with other attorneys and the Contract Management team on any additional matters which may require support, including risk assessment of contractual terms and conditions and negotiating alternative contractual language.

Required Skills:

• J.D. from an ABA accredited law school with excellent academic credentials and admission to the NJ state bar.
• 3-5 years of legal experience, preferably in-house and preferably in support of telecommunications, information services, or technology software and services businesses.
• Knowledge and experience analyzing and applying federal, state, and global laws related to Data Privacy and data security, including regulations and requirements, such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA etc.
• Experience providing general legal support and advice with respect to corporate compliance, governance, contracts, intellectual property, and/or export control preferred.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and drafting skills.
• Ability to absorb new concepts rapidly, comprehend complex financial and business concepts, balance risks, and find creative solutions to challenging issues.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to treat sensitive/confidential information with appropriate discretion.
• High energy, self-starter with a “can-do” attitude, strong drive for results and a demonstrated passion for understanding and meeting company needs.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently, as well as collaborate with cross functional teams to achieve high quality results.
