Cost Reduction Engineer Salary: $77,000 - $110,000/ Yr.

The Cost Reduction Engineer coordinates and manages global Cost Reduction activities in conjunction with key stakeholders within and outside the Global Procurement Organization. This person must achieve the best cost, quality, delivery and technology requirements in support of Haas Automation's product and manufacturing goals, and ensure global opportunity and leverage is harnessed.
- Technical assessment of potential and existing supplier’s design, manufacturing and quality expertise.
- Work with suppliers to improve delivery, quality and cost, utilizing lean manufacturing engineering principles to eliminate production constraints from a supply chain perspective.
- Contractual negotiations including price, payment terms, and transportation.
- Benchmarking suppliers / market, cost estimation based on purchasing experience and engineering knowledge on design of parts and materials used.
- Drive continuous improvement through Value Engineering to reduce cost with the design and manufacturing process.
- Coordinating major projects through management of vendors and commodities, which entails negotiating with suppliers for pricing, terms, and conditions.
- Utilized engineering experience to “should cost” the design and manufacturing of the part to aid in negotiations.
- Coordinate supplier selection, qualification, and evaluation with other departments.
- Contribute to the development of purchase specifications by providing pertinent technical information through market knowledge and engineering experience.
- Study market prices and trends, engineering developments and manufacturing method improvements.

Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in purchasing, strategic procurement, preferably in manufacturing with progressively increasing responsibilities.
- Proven track record of achievement in a major manufacturing/engineering company (Automotive & Aerospace preferred).
- Self-starter able to work as team member and team leader, able to achieve objectives and maintain flexibility in approach.
- Effectively manage multiple activities simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills required, as well as strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation.
- Working knowledge of and ability to read blue prints.
- Computer expertise in MS Office, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Understanding of processes and operations needed to produce parts per drawings.
- International sourcing experience.
- Travel requirements approximately 30%; must be able to travel both domestically and internationally.
Desired Qualifications
- Additional Foreign language skills preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Project and Access a plus.
- SAP experience preferred.
- CAD/CAM experience preferred.
- MBA preferred.
Education
Bachelor's Degree BA/BS/BFA/BSA from a four-year college or university is required, plus additional related experience, training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
