Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with technical support centers in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other federal agencies, all over the world.
The Cost Estimator will provide cost-estimating real estate support services in the Public Building Service in the Northwest/Arctic Region. Main responsibilities are to collect requirements and provide tenant improvement cost estimating and space planning support. This is a hybrid position with office visits once a week.
This is a four-year project and is contingent on the award of the contract. Our salary range for this position is based on the market data, $80k to $100k per year (range varies depending on experience and qualifications).
Key responsibilities:
  • Assist in understanding the cost and potential layouts to accommodate space requirements
  • Provide planner/estimator support to construction management efforts for owned and leased space
  • Provide alteration management support for developing client scopes of work, estimating the proposed work, technical support for price negotiation and construction inspections
  • Review and provide relevant comments on Design Intent Drawings (DIDs) and Construction Drawings (CDs)
  • Provide timely and accurate cost information in support of tenant improvement projects in owned and leased space
  • Assist the government in getting the best value to fill the client agency's requirements, including necessary change orders
  • Develop and maintain an effective quality control program to identify, prevent and ensure non-recurrence of defective services
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as needed

Qualifications to be successful in the role:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with tenant improvement, construction of office/warehouse and related space with a value of over $250,000 as a Project Manager, Construction Manager, Planner or Estimator
  • Knowledgeable in tenant improvement, construction drawings, space measurements
  • Knowledgeable in commercial office buildings systems such as mechanical, electrical, architectural, security, telecommunications, finishes, ceiling, and lighting partitions. Hands-on experience and working knowledge of general contractor competitive bidding process, bid reviews and evaluation of proposed costs
  • Experienced in the use of the following:
    • Cost estimating software and databases
    • Familiarity with CAD and/or Bluebeam is desirable
    • Microsoft Windows to include Access
    • Microsoft Office to include PowerPoint and Access
    • Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs, etc.)
    • Adobe Acrobat Professional
    • MS Project
  • Proficient in simple math processes (including addition, multiplication, and subtraction)
  • Proficient in oral and written communications
  • Must lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits)
