Job Description

AECOM has an immediate need for an onsite Cost Estimator to support the Resident Office at Tyndall AFB near Panama City, Florida. This position will include preparation of detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for the assigned project. The selected candidate will need to have a strong understanding of contractual terms and conditions. Develop and prepare conceptual estimates using design documents and information using onscreen take-offs and estimating.

Responsible for activities related to estimating all elements of project cost including labor (manual and non-manual), materials and permanent equipment, supplies, consumables and expenses, construction equipment rental and operating costs, contingency, escalation, program risk, etc. cost breakdown estimating and negotiating, and technical writing.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or AA/AS (US) + 10 years of relevant experience or High School Diploma/GED +12 years of relevant experience
  • Position requires capability to perform daily walk-throughs of worksite with project manager.
  • Position requires frequent move and work in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable outdoor conditions, including heat, dusts, noise, dry, and moist. 
  • Occasionally bending/stooping, working at heights, and repetitive or fine hand movements to perform estimating tasks.
  • Occasional lifting of equipment up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment as needed.  This equipment includes, but is not limited to gloves, safety glasses/goggles, face shield, safety shoes/boots, hard hat, and hearing protection.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen

Preferred Requirements

  • BS in civil or Construction Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years in Heavy Civil Construction Estimating
  • Previous USAC Experience
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of estimating software
  • Ability to prepare detailed budgets
  • Ability to prepare detailed materials lists and costs
  • Ability to read, interpret and navigate plans and specification
  • Knowledgeable of the Company estimating systems and processes.
  • Understands estimating terminology and measures and recognizes estimating processes/project actions that may impact the project.  
  • Understands construction means, methods, and sequences-multiple disciplines.
  • Develops Work Breakdown Structures.
  • Capable of managing the preparation of an estimate.
  • Evaluates suitability of scope and execution plan for basis of estimate.
  • Initiates the preparation of an Estimate Plan (approach, techniques, level of effort, cost, schedule), Basis of Estimate and qualifications.
  • Prepares bid tabulations responding to the customer/Request for Proposal requirements.
  • Collects, analyzes and archives project data.  Develops historical documentation.
  • Develops current project estimate comparisons with previous performance and market benchmark data.
  • Knowledge of Primavera Project and Microsoft Project schedules and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.

  • Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (Florida) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $150,000.00
