The Board's mission is to protect and support the public through regulation and education, while protecting the integrity of the cosmetology and barbering industries. The Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board oversees the effective licensing and regulations of cosmetology, branches of cosmetology, barbering, and tanning services.
What You'll Do:
- An Inspector begins and ends their workday at their residence. The inspector travels daily using a state-issued vehicle within their assigned area to conduct routine, follow-up and complaint-based inspections for infection control, safety, and licensing compliance of individuals and businesses.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Using a laptop/tablet to complete inspections and prepare reports.
- Testifying in 119/adjudication hearings when requested.
- Maintaining assigned state-owned vehicle, reporting needed maintenance and submitting gas logs/receipts monthly.
- Communicating with Board licensees and the general public.
- Administering theory and practical examinations for licensure at the Board office upon request.
- Selected candidate must live in Franklin County.

- Current licensure as a Cosmetologist per chapter 4713 of the Ohio Revised Code or current licensure as a Barber per chapter 4709 of the Ohio Revised Code
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications for this Position:
- Minimum of 24 months experience
- Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and infection control; public relations
- Ability to provide instructions and information to owner and/or manager
- Knowledge of state laws, rules, policies &/or procedures applicable to inquiries
