Job Description
The Cosmetic Medical Assistant (MA) will partner with the providers of Chicago ENT to ensure prompt, accurate, and compassionate patient care. Chicago ENT is seeking experienced MA candidates interested in growing their skills in this unique and comprehensive ENT care setting. This role will mainly partner with our Cosmetic Physician but will cross train and support the ENT team as needed.
This role will report to the MA Lead.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES of the Cosmetic Medical Assistant
- Responsible for assisting Physicians and Mid-Level Practitioners with the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients in an ambulatory care setting.
- Maintain patient flow, ensure the upkeep of exam and treatment rooms, and perform basic skills such as vital signs and point of care testing.
- Administer intramuscular injections, immunizations, and over-the-counter medications under the direction of a Physician.
- Be cross trained over time in all specialties and ancillary services including ENT, Sleep, Allergy, Cosmetic, CT, and Triage.
- Work alongside our facial plastic surgeon in clinic to discuss surgical fees, logistics, and scheduling with patients following initial physician consult.
- Serve as the primary patient contact for non-medical questions related to facial cosmetic treatments.
- Schedule incoming cosmetic consultation requests and pre and post-op visits.
- Provide all the necessary documentation for scheduling surgeries to hospitals and ASCs.
- Be skillful in adapting a well-spoken communication style to interact with a variety of personality types, while ensuring any message is conveyed clearly and concisely.
- Be knowledgeable of all office financial policies, participating insurance companies, requirements of those insurance companies, and maintaining the surgical calendar.
- Keep a record of collections and conversion rates for the practice.
- Maintain a pricing sheet within the office for services offered.
- Work closely with the Marketing Department in the implementation of promotions, events, lead generation campaigns and social media.
- Escalate any unresolved patient issues to the Director of Cosmetics, as appropriate, and partner with management on a resolution.
- Process requests for information quickly and accurately, and involving other employees, when appropriate, to ensure patient needs are met.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including prioritization of tasks, shifting of deadlines, coordination with multiple departments and individuals, implementation of organizational and tracking processes, etc.
- Be available to work scheduled hours travel between all office locations where their assigned provider hosts clinic.
- Stand for long periods of time and lift up-to 30 pounds.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS of the Cosmetic Medical Assistant
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience with sterile procedures
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Capable of always maintaining a high level of professionalism and representing the practice appropriately in emails, telephonically, and in conversation.
- Ability to work in a high stress, fast paced environment
- Ability to rotate with assigned physician at all scheduled clinic locations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS of the Cosmetic Medical Assistant
- Minimum of two years clinical experience preferred
- Previous surgical experience preferred
- Preferred familiarity with cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery procedures
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY of the Cosmetic Medical Assistant
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS of the Cosmetic Medical Assistant
Preferred: Current Medical Assistant Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT
