Description
POSITIONS AVAILABLE IN THE CLASSIFICATION DIVISION AND IN THE RECORDS DIVISION
GENERAL
Supervises employees on an assigned shift within a specific unit of a correctional facility
Processes records on jail commitments and court appearances, or determines inmate classification and housing assignment
Prepares unit shift reports, and performs other specialized corrections support duties
Oversees the fingerprint identification filing system, inmate records, and the criminal history record information filing system according to state and federal laws
Coordinates with other law enforcement agencies regarding inmate records
Exercises supervision over subordinate personnel

UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION
GENERAL
Provides technical assistance and instruction concerning prisoner processing, jail facility operations and procedures
Answers questions from the pubic, testifies in court, and provides information to court personnel, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and treatment providers concerning status of inmates.
Prepares reports and discusses shift operations and activities
RECORDS & INFORMATION
Supervises the processing, preparation, retrieval, security and retention of records using manual and computerized systems
Processes billing information for inmates accounts or reimbursement from other correctional facilities
PRISONER CLASSIFICATION
Interviews inmates to investigate and respond to their complaints or grievances, or to determine the proper classification and housing assignment.
Gathers information and attends the inmate special classification review board
Performs related work
Minimum Requirements
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Communicates with individuals in person and utilizes all types of communication media
Spends prolonged periods of time sitting, standing, walking, carrying, stooping and climbing
Operates office and computer equipment
Lifts and carries items weighing up to 20 pounds
Minimum Requirements:
Associate's degree

Minimum Requirements:
Must not have been convicted of a felony or have any criminal action pending against them
Misdemeanor convictions will be considered on an individual basis
Must submit to a pre-employment drug screening
Must submit to a pre-employment polygraph test
Must wear safety equipment as mandated by OSHA
Must be vaccinated for hepatitis B, have provided evidence of immunity, or have signed a declination form within ten days of initial assignment
Must pass an annual tuberculin test
Must work a varied schedule
Must be fluent in English language
Equivalency:
High school diploma or the equivalent
Two years of prisoner classification, inmate grievance, or counseling; OR computerized prisoner records or computerized court system records experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
Special Requirements:
GENERAL
Must be certified as a LINK and NCIC Basic Operator (Full Access) in the State of Kentucky or obtain within six months of employment
Must be certified in Basic CPR and Basic First Aid or obtain within one year of employment
Applicants and employees in positions which perform job duties that may require contact with offenders in the custody or supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice or with youth in the care, custody or supervision of Youth Development
must meet qualifications pursuant to the federal Prison Rape Elimination Act, 28 CFR 115.17 and 115.317, to include periodic post-employment criminal background checks
