THE POSITION
Are you a talented Barber looking for a rewarding opportunity to share your excellent barber training and skill? The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Pine Grove is seeking someone highly motivated and creative with strong leadership skills to join our team as a Corrections Licensed Barber Manager!
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Corrections Licensed Barber Manager, you will provide classroom instruction in all areas of state barber examination to incarcerated adults. This will involve using a variety of teaching methods to meet each students' individual needs. In this role, you will coordinate the daily operation of the barber shop, including supervising student operators. You will also schedule clients, maintain adequate supplies, and keep appropriate records on client services. In addition, you will maintain accountability of inmates, students, workers, and clients while they are in or scheduled to be in the barber area.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment (40-hour work week)
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,753.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirement:
  • Two years of professional experience as a barber.

Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of an active Barber Manager License issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Barber Examiners.
