Scope of Responsibility: Coordinate MDS facility’s infection control program, working closely with residents, nursing team members and others to create and maintain as aseptic environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide education to campus MDS nurses and ensure regulatory updates on all changes are communicated.
  • Conduct quality review, training, and education of MDS team, build relationships, advise and help implement effective systems.
  • Oversee the CMI process to ensure maximum reimbursement for each campus.
  • Monitor Case Mix Index (CMI) scores, across the system, looking for potential risks and/or changes that may affect Medicaid reimbursement.
  • Develop a plan to increase CMI per campus and across the system.
  • Ensure MDSs are completed timely and accurate.
  • Provide support to all MDS nurses.
  • Audit and review care plans and ensure compliance with baseline, comprehensive, and revisions. Immediately report serious miscoding to campus VP of Operations and COO.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and Managed Medicaid criteria, serving as a resource for nursing team members and communicate changes in regulations.
  • Monitor and audit Medicare assessment schedules and nursing documentation to ensure accuracy and timely submission.
  • Observe direct nursing care, review documentation, and make appropriate recommendations, assist with chart audits.
  • Assist in preparing for surveys and RAC audits.
  • Provide MDS coverage for campus vacancies and time off.
  • Will be responsible for taking call for Corporate Clinical Director on her/his days off.

Education & Experience

  1. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana and Ohio.
  2. Obtain RAC certification within one year of being in this position.

Skills & Knowledge

  1. Previous nursing experience and knowledge of MDS regulatory experience
  2. Strong written and verbal skills.
  3. Ability to educate and train MDS nurses.
