Global Harvest Foods is one of the country’s largest producers and marketers of private label and branded wild bird food and related products. Global Harvest Foods primarily produces private label or white label brands for brick-and-mortar retailers, selling into the Farm & Feed, Mass, Grocery, Club and Hardware channels. Global Harvest Foods’ competitive advantage has been its national production and distribution footprint combined with its product breadth, positioning the Company as one of the only wild bird feed producers large enough to provide significant volumes for national retailers and sell a full product set. The Company is headquartered in Seattle, WA with production facilities in Washington, South Dakota (4), Colorado, Indiana, Minnesota and Pennsylvania.

We currently have an outstanding opportunity for a Logistics Manager to join our team in our Spokane, WA office. This position will be a key member of the Supply Chain team and will provide effective support, guidance and leadership to the entire company’s logistical needs. This includes carrier & 3PL partner selection and management, developing and reporting out KPI’s, management & development of logistics coordinators, and freight transportation to, from, and between production facilities and distribution locations. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for effective negotiation and management of over $20M in spend and tens of thousands of shipments across multiple modes of transportation (van trucks, grain hopper trucks, rail, import containers, etc.).

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

· Oversee the entire logistics process and direct report staff.

· Optimize, negotiate, manage and keep current all rates, contracts, programs and methods for logistics to, from and between all GHF production facilities and 3PL distribution points.

· Develop and report key performance indicators, market reports, and other metrics.

· Support pricing group by researching and providing rates for new lanes or potential new business.

· Manage end-to-end transportation process for all outbound loads from all GHF production facilities and distribution points to customer locations.

· Collaborate with GHF plants and 3PL locations to reduce truck detention penalties and to become a preferred shipper for carrier partners.

· Notify customer service of any delivery problems such as late delivery, product rejections, product shortages/overages and miss-shipments. Obtain necessary documentation and pictures as required to substantiate any problems.

· Collaborate with procurement and grain merchandisers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials.

· Coordinate and evaluate any refused or damaged product at customers for disposition.

· Research invoices which have been short paid, or deductions associated with transportation claims. Approve invoices which do not meet accrual amounts.

· Manage the loading and unloading appointment process; audit for timeliness and dispute any unwarranted carrier detention charges.

· Ensure all sales orders are consolidated for shipment and transit times are factored in order to meet customer pickup or delivery dates. When applicable, ensure pickup information is routed into external customer databases.

· Track and monitor in-transit loads to ensure timely delivery to our customer locations; communicate any delays to customer service.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree.

· Minimum of 5 years of transportation manager experience, preferably within manufacturing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Strategic thinking, negotiations, cost savings, process improvement, leadership and team development.

· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area and volume.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and accounting software.

· Prior management skills being responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of direct reports.

Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment and workload.
