Job Description

The purpose of this job is to supervise the building and grounds Facility Services team and to ensure that all building structures and the grounds of the Pilot Flying J (PFJ) campus are safe, functioning, and presentable.

  • Supervise and provide daily oversight of the building and grounds maintenance team; select, coach, train, and develop direct reports, to include appraising job performance and conducting performance reviews
  • Plan and oversee implementation of general Facility Services for PFJ buildings and structures; prioritize and schedule repairs and assign work
  • Lead team's preventive maintenance efforts; inspect, operate and test systems to detect malfunctions
  • Oversee third party vendor contracts and ensure that service level agreement (SLA) terms are met by vendors
  • Ensure a transparent, competitive bid process occurs for maintenance projects; collaborate with internal purchasing department to post RFPs and obtain quotes for planned work
  • Create and implement a regular inspection schedule of building interiors and exteriors to identify maintenance issues and safety and building code concerns
  • Operate various hand, power, and specialty tools to assist with office reconfigurations, installs, and user accommodations
  • Diagnose electrical problems; install and rewire electrical components, troubleshoot, verify wiring diagrams and manuals reflect building updates, check fuses. circuit breakers are in good physical condition and operating within its load level.
  • Perform troubleshooting and various repairs for HVAC/R, kitchen equipment, plumbing, mechanical, and lighting
  • Assemble, move, and deconstruct pre-fabricated office equipment
  • Utilize the internal work order tracking system while prioritizing work orders
  • Collaborate with manager to optimize use of third-party vendors to resolve escalated facility maintenance issues and repairs
  • Provide grounds keeping services to ensure sidewalks, entry ways and parking areas are cleared of debris, ice, and snow
  • Model behaviors that support the company's common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level
  • Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate required
  • Valid Tennessee state driver's license required
  • Minimum five years' related job experience (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC) required
  • Trade or vocational school required (journeyman electrician preferred)
  • Minimum two years' experience operating various hand, power and specialty tools including dollies and hand trucks preferred
  • Minimum two year's supervisory experience required
  • OSHA certification preferred 
  • Basic knowledge of local building codes for mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively across all organizational levels
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and collaborate as a member of a team
  • Ability to work in heavily populated areas during normal work hours
  • Travel required less than 5%
  • Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Able to climb ladders up to heights of 20 feet
  • Exposure to a variety of weather conditions and temperatures
  • Able to operate electric and gas power tools
  • Able to work evenings and odd hours as needed
