Gunderson Cleaners is a well-established Wisconsin based Dry Cleaning company and is poised for continued growth. We are looking to hire a talented and highly motivated Corporate Controller. Reporting to the President, the Controller will play a critical role in strategic decision making and operations as the company continues to enhance its operations and undergoes growth. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, participatory manager who, along with the President, will lead the Finance and Accounting Department, and will have a successful track record in setting priorities; as well as excellent analytic, organization, and communication skills.
Supervises Financial Administrator
Job Responsibilities:
Ensures accuracy of the company s financial status and reported results. Investigate and explain book to physical adjustments
Facilitates accounting department's use of CRMs and various other company applications and integrates software into accounting processes and procedures
Performs technical accounting issue research and resolution as necessary
Assists the President with preparation and completion of the fiscal year budgeting process, evaluates business unit performance against budget, and develops forecasts/reforecasts to provide an accurate projection of financial performance
Assists the President with acquisitions/merges and tax ramifications of multiple entities
Financial Reporting:
Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with all state and federal regulations.
Preparation of the monthly management financial reporting package, including variance analysis
Reporting of operational data to key members of leadership team, including key metrics on all financials
Review transaction coding and financial statements for accuracy, legal compliance and alignment to budgeted expense coding
Coordinates the creation of periodic financial reporting packages for company leadership
Manages the annual financial audit process performed by our independent CPA firm when applicable
Internal Controls:
Develops, analyzes, documents, and implements internal controls
Develops, maintains, and enhances accounting and finance policies, processes and procedures to comply with all state and federal regulations
Seeks opportunities to revise or create new policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting department
Manages P&C insurance and company health insurance renewals and provides advising for Bank, Attorney, and CPA
Manages and oversees inhouse IT and outside POS
Manages contracts, leases and all property assets including vehicles/registration
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or another related discipline
4+ years of experience working in a corporate setting
Extensive experience in all aspects of corporate accounting, financial management
Understanding of federal and state tax compliance requirements
Knowledge of budget preparation and analysis techniques
Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and organizational skills are essential
Critical thinking skills and the ability to make the necessary decisions
Assistance with Group special projects as applicable
Advanced knowledge of MS Office, Excel and Quick Books
Other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned
