The Corporate / Sr. Corporate Chef is a highly visible and hands-on customer facing, cooking and training position that will partner closely with Sovos Brands Sales and R&D Teams as well as with customer, brokers, suppliers and consumers to drive sales for Sovos Brands' fantastic portfolio.  This role will also help support new product development, receipt development and creation, foster strategic partnerships and develop curriculum to teach and train our internal and external cohorts.  In this role, you will be joining a team of passionate food professionals who are consumer obsessed! We pride ourselves on creating Delicious Food for Joyful Living with an obsession on Taste Leadership and Exceptional User Experiences.

 

Job Responsibilities

  •  Culinary Selling – Plan, organize and flawlessly execute detailed run of shows at all Priority 1 and 2 customers. Manage culinary “roadshow” supplies and requirements to ensure successful sell ins.
  • Recipe Creation and Sharing – Develop well-written and consumer inspired food ideas which are on or ahead of trend, using established formats and styles which support brand equity
  •  Curriculum Development – Develop and socialize culinary selling curriculum for internal Sovos employees across Rao’s, Michael Angelo’s and noosa inclusive of brand history, sku differentiation and emphasizing what makes us unique (via trade secrets, hero ingredients, culinary techniques)
  •  Technical Knowledge – expert in technical depth and breadth in raw materials, processes, recipes and finished products across Rao’s, Michael Angelo’s and noosa.
  • Trade Shows – culinary lead in the planning, execution and brand representation at all relevant industry events

 

Skills & Values Requirements

  • Proficiency in advanced culinary techniques with focus on Authentic Italian Cuisine: The principles of cooking techniques; Product characteristics; Safe food handling techniques; Food & nutrition idea development; Product performance testing protocols
  • Exceptional presentation and leadership skills in front of customers, ability to “read a room” and adapt or adjust key messages and presentations on the fly. Skilled in storytelling and romanticizing ingredients and products
  • Passion, passion, passion! For culinary excellence and exceeded customer and consumer expectations
  • Exceptionally detail oriented with maniacal focus on presentation and quality for our premium brands
  • Proven ability to develop “gold standard” products and intellectually curious; proactively track food trends to identify white space for our products and brands
  • Self-motivated, ability to multi-task and exhibit an aptitude for leading, coaching and driving excellence
  • Works well in a cross-functional team environment, able to balance multiple and/or shifting priorities and flex to provide support to colleagues as needed
  • Ability to sample Sovos Brands' products

 

Minimum Qualifications

  •  Minimum 7+ years of experience as a Corporate or Professional Chef experienced in Authentic Italian Cuisine
  •  10+ years of professional experience with work experience inclusive of CPG, Supplier or QSR environments 
  •  Professional culinary training / degree in Culinary Arts from an accredited and recognized institution
  •  Commitment to food safety and sanitation; ServSafe Certified preferred
  •  Familiarity with USDA/FDA guidelines
  •  Strong technical development skills, judgment and understanding of ingredient and process interactions
  •  A strong understanding of regional food preferences, cuisine trends, hero ingredients and culinary techniques across Italy
  •  Sensitivity and experience working with diverse populations, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds

 

 Preferred Qualifications

  •  Demonstrated and proven successes in culinary selling to a wide range of customers

 

Location Requirements or Preferences

  •  Austin, TX preferred
  •  Hybrid work environment
  •  Ability to travel up to 50% of the time – domestic and possibly international
