The Position

Corporate Café Manager & Head Chef

Job Description

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing, directing, and accepting overall accountability for the day-to-day operations of the company café, Nourish, while executing the vision to include these key initiatives:
  • Providing healthy, cost effective meals for employees and guests.
  • Promoting the Spend Life Wisely Lifestyle and upholding the Health and Wellness Pillar.
  • Educating employees on healthy living options.
  • Creating and fostering an environment for employees to nourish their bodies and relationships with others.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Managing Food Preparation
  • Supervises and/or assists in the preparation of meals for employees (including but not limited to lunch & internal catering).
  • Is present and participates in the service of Café patrons.
  • Supervises and/or assists in preparation for all catering needs to include training events and other special events.
  • Establishes portion sizes.
  • Offers food tastings and other educational opportunities.
  • Ensures food and kitchen safety.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of recipes.
  • Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Oversees "Grab-and-Go" areas for cleanliness, freshness, and relevant, healthy offerings.


Business Management
  • Develops menu design with the Director of Health & Wellness.
  • Manages meal planning and promotion.
  • Anticipates time and effort involved in food preparation and menus.
  • Utilizes and evaluates feedback to enhance the customer experience.
  • Ensures adherence to state and federal regulations.
  • Monitors and maintains café equipment.
  • Handles all purchasing for the café.
  • Manages inventory control and food costs.
  • Accepts payments, balances daily sales, tracks inventory.
  • Creates detailed reports on weekly, monthly, and annual revenues and expenses.
  • Manages all accounts receivable and catering invoicing.
  • Identifies appropriate price points for meals and products and monitors sales.
  • Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste.
  • Handles annual budgeting planning.
  • Manges all vendor relationships associated with the café.


Leadership
  • Exemplifies the values of the Health & Wellness Pillar.
  • Ability to foster a climate of cooperation and teamwork in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Inspiring motivator and leadership skills.
  • Hires, supervises, trains, café employees.
  • Acts as a mentor for café employees in their development and growth.
  • Manages employee scheduling.

  • Educates FUB employees on healthy living and vitality.
  • Creates an inviting space for employees.
  • Facilitates fun activities and special employee events.
  • Continually seeks out new ways to enhance café engagement and customer experience.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
  • Complete all required compliance and health-related exams on an annual basis.
  • Adherence to all First United Bank Policies and Procedures.
  • Recommends to supervisor possible methods of improvement.
  • Dresses and presents themself in a professional manner.

Education and Work Experience Preferences
  • Five or more years of Kitchen Management experience.
  • Graduate of Culinary Program/Certification.
  • Credentials in health and safety training.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Background in Business and/or Marketing is preferred.
  • Proven experience and passion for healthy food preparation.


Technical/Functional Competencies
  • Work schedule (evenings and weekends) flexibility.
  • Passion for food, the First United Health & Wellness Pillar philosophy. and professionalism concerning their kitchen.
  • Up-to-date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes.

Physical Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 30 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
  • Must be able to safely use kitchen equipment and appliances.
