Job description

The Jackson Laboratory is currently seeking a Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager to support the growth of major philanthropy from Corporate and Foundation sources. A dynamic position poised to help change what’s possible for human health and reporting to the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, the CFR Manager works with both internal and external stakeholders to plan and implement fundraising activities.
This is a fully remote role with Travel as needed.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
CFR Pipeline Development: (25%)
  • Culling CRF funding portal with Science Writer to identify, present, and recommend prospect additions for consideration. Tracking new opportunities in funding portal (Instrumental).
  • Partnering with Advancement Services to obtain additional prospect research and relationship mapping as needed.
  • Documenting updates in the CRM database.
  • Coordinating meetings with advisory groups focused on lead generation and strategy development.
CFR Funder Engagement: (40%)
  • Developing, planning, and implementing funder site visits and exploratory visits, to include agenda and itinerary creation, coordination and prepping of faculty, notetaking, and follow up.
  • Managing and coordinating engagement programming and logistics for ad hoc corporate advisory group comprised of high-level Corporate and Foundation executives.
  • In collaboration with Advancement and Strat Comm, drafting and/or facilitating CFR landing page updates to highlight CFR donor impact stories.
  • Facilitating the development of CFR collateral for corporate engagement.
  • Drafting social media content highlighting CFR funders with a focus on increased CFR social media engagement and impressions.
  • Developing JAX corporate engagement matrix with recommendations for deeper corporate engagement and philanthropic growth.
CFR Reporting: (15%)
  • Partnering with JAX’s Stewardship Office to request and develop impact reports as needed
  • Maintaining CFR reporting calendar, working with faculty PIs, Grants Office, and Science Writer to ensure that reports are accurate, high-quality, and submitted in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinating with JAX’s office of sponsored programs and director of data management to ensure that grants are tracked and booked according to documented policy
  • Ensuring that all CFR grants/gifts are appropriately acknowledged
Project Management: (10%)
  • Using project management software to track collaborative projects with major and principal gift teams, faculty and leadership.
  • Convening faculty meetings as appropriate to ensure that grant project aims are being accomplished and evaluating and documenting progress.
  • Assigning tasks and following up as needed to ensure deliverables.
Administrative: (10%)
  • Pulling reports, notetaking, and drafting presentations
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of professional experience in philanthropy, academia, or business required, ideally in a rapidly evolving institution. Preference for familiarity with grants process and biomedical research.
  • A successful track record in executing on strategy, setting priorities, managing multiple projects and working effectively under pressure to achieve individual and organizational goals.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, reliable and flexible; thrives in a fast-paced environment; a driving force who manages toward clarity, finds solutions and is able to think strategically about the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to listen to and balance, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A team player with a flexible, collaborative and creative approach who can lead from behind and empower the team to contribute their best.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, WordPress, donor databases, web-based applications and use of the internet for research required. Proficiency with project management software preferred.
  • Keen interest in learning and developing as a professional, staying on top of best practice research.

Pay Range: $63,744 - $106,723 based on total years of prior related experience
