1.Coordinates and completes all network pharmacy related projects needed by the McLaren pharmacy network.
2.Collaborates with upper management such as directors, regional directors, and vice presidents within the McLaren network to provide best-practice patient care throughout all KCI sites within the network consistent with the standards and best-practices utilized at Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, MI
3.Contributes to policy development, budget planning, new pharmacy initiatives, and performance.
4.Under limited supervision and in collaboration with the Investigational Drug Services Manager at the Karmanos Cancer Institute, oversees the McLaren network pharmacy sites to initiate, maintain, and direct investigation drug protocols.
5.Mentors and develops new team members throughout the network.
Essential Job and Department Specific Functions:
1.Integrate department measures with organization wide performance improvement efforts. Develop and test special projects. Assist in budget planning.
2. Coordinate McLaren network pharmacy department activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, TJC requirements, and KCI's policies and procedures.
3. Collaborate with pharmacy leadership at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute with site accreditation processes, visits, compliance, and all other site surveys.
4.Collaborate with higher management to provide input into investigational and oncologic Pharmacy Services, drug policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
5. Assist in developing, implementing, and revising department procedures/protocols aligned with system-wide goals and objectives.
6.Lead network initiatives with the collaboration of network and pharmacy leadership
7.Coordinates the activity of the pharmacy departments in the McLaren network related to the orientation and activities of the Investigational Drug Services for designated facilities to assure safe and accurate provision of investigational agents to patients.
8.Provides input into investigational drug policies, procedures, goals, and objectives in collaboration with higher management input. Assist in the development, implementation and/or revision of department procedures/protocols in accordance with system-wide goals and objectives as it relates to the McLaren network.
9.Coordinate with protocol sponsors to ensure safe, effective, and accurate treatment of study patients.
10.Coordinate with the McLaren network sites to maintain proper investigational drug storage requirements, drug accountability records and protocol staff training.
11.Coordinate with the Clinical Trial Office to determine the feasibility of conducting investigational drug studies at the network sites.
12.Serve as a point person for network pharmacy protocol audits, surveys, site initiations, and inspections.
13.Participates in professional organizations to keep current with local, regional and national trends in pharmacy practice.
14.Ensure appropriate orientation and training of departmental personnel, students and residents.
15.Coach, mentor, and develop team members to optimize performance. Participate in hiring decisions.
16.Serve as a member of Pharmacy Network related committees (P&T committee, Network Leadership committee, Site Certification committee, Research Operating Working Group, and pharmacy management team.)
17.Support the standards set forth in the KCI's Code of Conduct by creating an atmosphere of commitment to legal and ethical standards.
18.Adhere to all KCI and McLaren policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
1.Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy degree required
2.Postgraduate residency training or fellowship desirable.
3.Three to five years of pharmacy experience preferred, preferably in a healthcare facility with previous supervisory/leadership experience.
4.Investigational Drug Services 3-4 years' experience preferred
5.Current pharmacist and controlled substance licenses as required to practice in the State of Michigan.
6.State of Michigan preceptor license preferred. Participation in professional organizations desirable.
