Description
Our vision is simple, yet bold: "The Association of Former Students will be the premier alumni organization." Through our shared values and culture of professional team service, we engage and inspire the Aggie Network to support Texas Aggies and perpetuate the Aggie Spirit. We are seeking a former student of Texas A&M University to join a highly motivated team in selflessly advancing The Association of Former Students' noble mission by supporting our strategic engagement efforts and vision while engaging Young Alumni, which is defined as former students who have graduated from Texas A&M University in the last 12 years.
While fostering our team culture in line with The Association's Team Expectations and Texas A&M's core values, the ideal candidate will be someone who demonstrates skill in and devotion to (i) exhibiting a high-level of organization to effectively manage multiple efforts at a time, (ii) developing and fostering trusted relationships with team members and Young Alumni, (iii) serving as an ambassador for The Association of Former Students and Texas A&M, and (iv) having a strong motivation for serving others. Other essential characteristics include a heart to serve, a spirit of flexibility, and a composed and confident demeanor. Each day presents new opportunities to serve the Aggie Network in this role.
The Young Alumni Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage Young Alumni, fostering their connection with The Association of Former Students and Texas A&M University, and supporting their transition from current students to engaged and active former students.

DUTIES
Develops and implements strategies to engage Young Alumni, fostering their connection with The Association of Former Students and Texas A&M University:

  • Collaborates with the Campus Programs team to develop strategies to transition current students into former students, keeping them engaged with The Association of Former Students and Texas A&M after graduation.
  • Creates and implements strategies to engage Young Alumni in The Association's various activities, events and initiatives.
  • Organizes social, professional development and networking events targeted at Young Alumni, including Young Alumni Weekend.
  • Collaborates with The Association's Communications team to develop and maintain effective communication channels to keep Young Alumni informed of and engaged with Association activities, events and initiatives.
  • Promotes the achievements and success stories of Young Alumni to inspire and connect them with their peers, to include management of the 12 Under 12 Young Alumni Spotlight Award program.
  • Collaborates with The Association's Fundraising team to engage Young Alumni in The Association's fundraising campaigns, to include Pass It Back Day.
  • Collaborates with The Association's Engagement, Marketing, Communications and Fundraising teams to align Young Alumni engagement with broader Association goals.
  • Analyzes and reports on Young Alumni engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of engagement strategies.

Serves as The Association's liaison to the Young Alumni Council:
  • Re-establishes the Young Alumni Council, collaborating with The Association's Engagement, Marketing, Communications and Fundraising teams to determine how this important group can assist The Association in achieving its strategic goals and priorities.
  • Collaborates with The Association's Engagement, Marketing, Communications and Fundraising teams to identify priorities of the Young Alumni Council that are in line with The Association's strategic plan, and work with the Council to achieve these initiatives.

Contributes to Former Student Programs events and activities:
  • Provides on-site support for Former Student Programs meetings and events, to include but not limited to All-Aggie Tailgates, away-game Yell Practices, Coach's Nights, President's Nights, Muster, Class Reunions, Constituent Network activities, and Traveling Aggies Expo, as needed.

Participates in and provides input on various Association-wide activities:
  • Actively contributes toward efforts to achieve our culture, engagement, and fundraising goals.
  • Provides on-site event support for Board and Leadership Council meetings.
  • Participates on internal event teams and task committees.
  • Participates in Association events, including but not limited to Aggie Muster, Aggie Ring Day, Reunions, Distinguished Alumni Gala, Pass It Back Day, All-Aggie Grad Party, and All-Aggie Hullabaloo, as needed.

Serves as an ambassador for The Association:
  • Meets our Team Expectations.
  • Supports The Association's marketing, communications, and branding initiatives.
  • Fosters relationships with students, former students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of Texas A&M.
  • Attends external events in support of the Director of Former Student Programs and the Senior Vice President for Engagement, or on behalf of The Association, as directed.

Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Required: Sound judgment and utmost discretion. Ability to effectively lead a diverse team of Young Alumni volunteers who want to serve The Association of Former Students. Exceptional organizational, planning and project management skills, with strong attention to detail. Ability to organize concurrent projects and manage time, while working independently with minimal supervision or collaboratively with a high-functioning team in an ever-changing and multi-tasking environment with numerous deadlines. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including proofreading. Able to adjust to rapidly changing situations and to solve problems with a positive attitude. Ability to develop long-lasting and professional relationships and work effectively with a variety of unique personalities and individuals. Ability to use standard office equipment and software, including advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel to perform administrative duties as required. Ability to carry objects up to 35 pounds, and to stand for long periods and move quickly when needed at events.
Preferred: Extensive familiarity with Texas A&M and its history, traditions, and values.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Strong commitment to the mission and vision of The Association of Former Students, with the ability and desire to advocate for the organization and Texas A&M University. Enthusiasm for working with Young Alumni and a passion for fostering their connection to The Association of Former Students. High energy level and intrinsic motivation. Outgoing personality with a positive and friendly attitude. Professional attire and behavior. Texas driver's license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Occasional travel, working irregular and extended hours including overnight stays, weekends, and evenings, in support of Association events.
EXPERIENCE
Required: 1-2 years of professional experience, including volunteer management experience.
Preferred: 3-4 years of professional experience, including volunteer management experience.
EDUCATION
Required: Graduate of Texas A&M University.
Preferred: Graduate of Texas A&M University within the past 10 years.
SUPERVISION
Received: Manager of Class Programs and Constituent Networks.
