JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title:Coordinator, Grounds Operations
Department:Ballpark Operations
Reports To:Director, Grounds
Status: Exempt
Directly Supervises: Seasonal Grounds Crew
Primary Objective: Responsible for managing daily and overall operations of field maintenance on a year-round basis. Leads with a positive attitude, strong work ethic with attention to detail and communicates well with others. This role will manage the seasonal grounds staff including scheduling and performance management. They will also be responsible, at the direction of the Director, Grounds, for overall maintenance and preparation of the baseball field to ensure a safe, playable surface at T-Mobile Park.
Essential Functions:
  • Assist, assess, and maintain the condition of the playing field. Manage and participate in needed year-round maintenance to the highest quality according to MLB standards and specifications.
  • Assist in the selection, mixing, application, and proper disposal of pesticides, fertilizers, and materials for the playing surface.
  • Coordinate with Director, Grounds, and Facility Management for major field modifications, construction, and other similar activities. Provide strong people leadership; implement strategies to effectively manage Team Members and

improve the efficiency and effectiveness of department's people resources.
  • Train, evaluate performance, and foster growth and development of Team Members, encouraging

personal and professional development.
  • Manage and train crew members in the proper use of equipment, tools, materials, chemicals, and their applications.
  • Assist in directing staff in field preparation, clean up, and repair.
  • Consistently monitor weather conditions throughout the year for all baseball games and events and assist in making decisions with roof moves.
  • Responsible for scheduling and supervising seasonal grounds staff.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and general upkeep on various pieces of equipment and ensure all equipment remains in optimal condition.
  • Supervise field operations for non-baseball field events including preparation, setup, and teardown.
  • Will perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Science and Management or related field preferred. Equivalent, relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education if approved by management.
  • A minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience required, plus one (1) year in a management or lead capacity preferred.
  • Previous experience in supervising and managing grounds staff preferred.

Working Conditions:
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
  • Indoor and outdoor work environment, subject to fluctuation in temperatures, exposure to the sun and elements.
  • Medium lifting (20-50lb) may be required on occasion.
  • The Mariners are committed to providing competitive pay, perks, and benefits packages for our valued Team Members.
    The anticipated salary range for this role is $60,000-$80,000 annually.
    All perks are subject to eligibility requirements and availability and may be modified or amended from time to time.
