Position Highlights
The Department of Bioinformatics (BMI) at the College of Medicine-Phoenix seeks a Coordinator, Bioinformatics, to provide specialized, high-level program coordination to support the mission-centric bioinformatics function and fellows.
This position requires exceptional ethical integrity, confidentiality, and organization skills as the incumbent will ensure compliance with university policies, development and execution of streamlined processes, and training and support to assigned Banner/University of Arizona clinical informatics fellows. The incumbent must build and maintain rapport with university officials, community partners, college community members, and internal and external constituents. This is a highly visible customer outreach position. The coordinator works under the oversight of the BMI Director of Operations and in association with the Chair for Bioinformatics.
This position may require occasional weekend or evening hours.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage and serve as liaison for the UArizona/Banner clinical informatics fellows and their rotations between the Banner hospital, VA Medical Center .and Yuma Regional Medical Center, as well as UArizona compliance activities.
- Participate in fellow recruitment process, and coordinates the application process, including keeping communication materials up to date, reviewing and processing correspondence and fellow applications, and scheduling the interviews for candidates at multiple sites.
- Coordinate rotations, clinics, and moonlighting calendar for fellows and faculty as assigned, including generating, maintaining calendars, and distributing annual and monthly schedules to include CCC and PEC accreditation requirements.
- Maintain all records necessary to verify successful completion of the fellowship program, including fellow welcoming/graduation ceremonies and certificates at the University.
- Coordinate and execute all on-boarding and off-boarding activities related to the fellowship program.
- Provide administrative support for fellowship faculty, fellows, and fellowship committees as assigned.
- Coordinate conferences and fellow travel, and track costs.
- Arrange conference calls and video conferences, including scheduling rooms and placing catering orders.
- Coordinate logistics for visitors (e.g., fellowship candidates, invited speakers).
- Maintain departmental and procedural databases and duty hours.
- Prepare cyclical reports for the fellows, staff, and faculty.
- Collect and assemble required data for fellowship related projects.
- Assist in gathering information to facilitate the development of the fellowship's monthly billing between sites, and monitor monthly financial reports for variances.
- Keep fellows on task and rotation sessions flowing, and manage rotating residents from visiting programs.
- Maintain knowledge of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) current accreditation, and board and residency requirements for the fellowship as required.
- Coordinate logistics for accreditation site visits and academic program reviews.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to plan, analyze and coordinate programs at college/university level.
- Knowledge of program evaluation and/or event development.
- Experience working with diverse student populations (first generation, low-income, scholars) and College personnel (administrators, physicians, other health professionals, faculty).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated superior written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to job responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience working in higher education.
• Background in event planning-related coordination and organizational skills.
• Able to effectively interact with K-12 and college students.
• Experience building relationships with internal and external partners.
• Familiarity with budget preparation, management, and forecasting.
