Location: Columbia, Missouri
Shift: Mon - Friday; 8am to 4:30pm
Department: MUPC Therapy
Salary Range: $59,322 to $96,762 based on experience

E ssential Functions:

  • Complete functional assessments of patients with disruptive behaviors. This might include direct observation of patient, review of the record, and interviewing collaterals and providers.
  • Assist treatment team in developing specialized treatment plans and interventions that focus on reducing aggressive and/or disruptive behaviors. Will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure that the plan will meet the patient's needs and the requirements of the facility.
  • Provide support to direct care staff (to include nursing, mental health technicians, therapy staff, and milieu specialists) to help them to implement the recommended interventions. This will include demonstrating the interventions with the patient.
  • When appropriate, work with the social worker to develop recommendations to outside agencies (e.g. Independent Supported Living facilities) or caregivers to help patient to maintain improved functioning upon discharge from the hospital. When needed the BCBA will review plans and interventions with caregivers and outside agencies.
  • Complete documentation efficiently and accurately. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Continue to develop knowledge of supports that can be provided to patients to address behaviors that are safe in an inpatient psychiatric setting and work with manager to obtain needed equipment/supplies.
  • Provide recommendations to the treatment team focused on preventative strategies that promote a therapeutic environment and teaching functionally-equivalent replacement behaviors.
  • Provide recommendations to the interdisciplinary team regarding ways to promote behavior-analytic and reinforcementbased interventions that align with the hospital's vision and policies.
  • Provide education to staff on ABA principles and practical applications.
  • Design, implement, and manage evidence-based ABA services including assessment and intervention.
  • Develop strategies for implementation that promote least restrictive practices and reduce restraint and seclusion use.
  • Coordinate and monitor ABA program (Reinforcement System) implemented on the Pediatric Unit.
  • Communicate ABA initiatives with management and interdisciplinary team to ensure alignment with organization mission.
  • Oversee maintenance of program data collection systems to track, monitor, and measure program effectiveness.
  • May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

    • Master's degree in applied BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS, psychology, or a related program.
    • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
    • Behavior Analyst licensure by the Missouri Behavior Analyst Advisory Board.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Behavioral health experience is strongly preferred.
    • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
