Job description

In this role you will be responsible for: Data abstraction, coding and Maintenance of the Trauma Registry .
Qualifications

  • Trauma or medical registry experience
  • Associates Degree in health care related field
  • Experience with of ICD-10 coding classification system
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in the health care field
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology
  • Experience with EMR
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in an acute care setting with trauma admissions
  • Knowledge of ESO (DI) Collector Trauma Registry database
  • Successful completion AAAM's AIS Coding Course
  • Successful completion of ATS Trauma Registrar Course
  • RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator)
  • CSTR (Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries) or must become certified within 1 year of hire
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Computer skills with proficiency in EMR, Word, and Excel
  • Abide by strict confidentiality regulations as defined by HIPAA and hospital policy
  • Ability to work autonomously with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication skills

Conditions of Employment
Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
