Job description
Our cook will provide young children with appetizing, nutritious meals according to the CACFP state and federal guidelines in a clean safe environment. Our cook is responsible for the preparation and serving of meals, sanitation of food service areas, accurate record keeping, receiving, rotating and inventory of products and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Prep/Serve breakfast, lunch, and snack, including clean up
- Able to prep, chop, sauté, bake, broil, roast, boil, stew, grill, present, temperature check food and document temperatures for food products
- Wash dishes and pots, regularly cleans refrigerators, stove/oven, and other commercial kitchen equipment and utensils, as well as kitchen areas including counters, shelves, bins, walls, and any other areas required cleaning
- Assure proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning procedures are followed, as well as document the process
- Manage food supplies/inventory
- Take inventory every 2 weeks according to established schedules
- Coordinate deliveries
- Able to work with a yearly budget and stay within the perimeters of it, modifying orders as needed
- Able to design and implement CACFP compliant healthy meals and monthly menus for children, whose ages range from 6 weeks old to 5 years old
- Make and properly store baby food
- Create alternative meals for those children with dietary or allergy needs, ensuring their needs are being met
- Implements CACFP guidelines for every meal served
- Complete all paperwork accurately and in a timely manner, according to Babes on the Square Too, and other licensing or regulation requirements
- Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with children, parents, and vendors
- Must be detail oriented, well groomed, and must be a team player

Qualifications:
- 1 year cooking experiences with a knowledge of CACFP
- Hold a valid ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Examination certificate or obtain within 60 day
- Have previous experience in the preparation and service or cooking of food in a large-scale food service facility
- Have knowledge of basic food handling techniques, safety work practices, and ability to use kitchen tools and equipment
- Clear and concise written and oral communication skills
- Ability to maintain records and complete reports as required
- Ability to read, speak, and understand English, follow directions and complete tasks
- Have a love for children and a strong desire to provide them with nutritional meals
- Able to lift, stoop, bend, twist and stand with 30 to 50 pounds of weight
- Able to stand on your feet for long periods of time
- Dependable
- Has a good work ethic
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
