Cook for 65-bed Residential Treatment Center

SUMMARY

We are looking for an ambitious Cook to assist in the preparation of delicious dishes in the kitchen for our clients. You’ll perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes. Cooking healthy meals that are dietician approved. A great cook will be quick and diligent and willing to improve on the job. You will be deft and able to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules in the kitchen. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Must be able to read, understand and prepare any recipe without direction or confusion.
• Must have the ability to prepare all meats, fish, soups, sauces, vegetables, and desserts and garnishes using an acceptable method; and are also appealing to the eye.
• Must be able to prepare all food for Sunrise Recovery patient and able to accommodate special diets
• Proper garnish and the delivery, as needed or ordered.
• Making sure all orders are put away and properly rotated.
• Must take part in the sanitation of all food preparation work surfaces on a clean-as-you-go basis, as needed or assigned.
• Must ensure all cooking, cleaning, and kitchen maintenance are performed to FDA Food Code standards
• Must abide by facility policies concerning workplace safety and infection control

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education and/or Experience:

• Minimum 1-2 years prior experience as a Cook preferred
• Personal passion or interest in substance abuse issues strongly preferred
• Must be committed to drug-free lifestyle and responsible alcohol use

Communication Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

Competency with Microsoft Office Suite. Comfortable working with electronic health records.
