About the Role
A proactive and enthusiastic engineering student is sought to support activities in the New Mobility – Vehicle Controls group. The role will entail learning about vehicle controls systems specifically for conventional, semi-autonomous, or fully autonomous vehicles, and the development and/or validation testing of those vehicles or their systems.
Your Responsibilities
• Support the validation testing of controls subsystems
• Connect vehicle instrumentation to test properties, ensure correct equipment operation and calibrations and perform tests to a test procedure.
• Support investigating issues on the vehicle as reported by the controls or other groups.
• Develop test cases based in requirements management system
• Review test data using engineering tools to look for anomalies and/or faults.
• Use basic/specialized hand tools to work on test properties and/or vehicles (to add/remove devices controllers, modify wiring, etc.)
Who we are looking for
• Some familiarity with vehicle electrical / controls systems is preferred
• Ability to read/understand wiring diagrams / schematics
Your preferred qualifications
• High School Diploma
• Currently Attending a College or University studying a relevant engineering course in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences
• Active involvement in Formula SAE, Baja SAE, High School or University robotics programs.
• Proficient computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Eagerness to learn new engineering tools and methods
• Organized and methodical – should be able to follow sometimes complex instructions to conduct tests on a test vehicle or test bench, recording and communicating the results
• Professional Communication skills (written and verbal)
• Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.
