Form of workThe Controls Engineering Intern (paid internship) provides support to the Controls Engineering team and assists with various conveyor systems projects. Travels to job sites, both local and on-the-road within the U.S. These projects will provide the intern an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Controls Engineering. The Intern will assist in PLC programming, field commissioning, I/O and graphical checkouts. They will gain knowledge of and interact with engineering and other business professionals throughout the internship.
- Supports day-to-day operations of the Controls Engineering department developing a general understanding of all aspects of Controls Engineering, including policies, procedures and processes.
- Assist in the development of Controls Engineering projects for material handling systems.
- Travels to job sites, both local and on-the-road within the U.S. most of the time interning.
- Provides assistance with special projects as needed.
- Current enrollment in graduate or undergraduate degree program in an engineering related field at a recognized college or university.
- Local to Cincinnati (OKI area) - to build our team long term (no out-of-state applicants).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
- Basic analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, and planning skills.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other Matthews employees.
- Ability to work under direct supervision within a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail.
- Must have current driver's license.
- Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.
- Regularly/Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. (Standard is 10lbs, modify as needed)
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly/Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- The noise level in the work environment may be high.
