Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide controls system design, testing, and configuration for Mobile Energy Storage Systems (ESS).
- Work closely with clients to translate customer requirements into a project specification document to clearly define scope and deliverables.
- Develop and define communications datapoint lists for the customer and SCADA interface.
- Write and execute Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) plans, generally here in our Waterbury, VT production facility, and On-Site Acceptance Testing (OSAT) at customer sites.
- Assist with design and review of electrical/controls design drawings and equipment lists.
- Perform programming of PLC and RTAC logic controllers using IEC 61131 ST, FBD, LD.
- Troubleshoot the electrical, controls and AC/DC inverter power systems and coordinate modifications or corrective actions with engineering and production.
- Assist with the ongoing effort to standardize logic modules and data structures while identifying opportunities to increase efficiency and coding standardization.
- Up to 10% Travel may be required to perform onsite project commissioning and to support and troubleshoot existing installations.
- Maintain quality and safety standards.
- Review Production builds during Factory Authorization (FAT) Testing and validate installation of mechanical, electrical and control systems and devices.
- Troubleshoot issues and work with the project team and coordinate modifications or corrective actions.
- Manage and maintain FAT Punch List documentation.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for device calibration and configuration.
- Perform device calibrations and configurations.
- Assist the Lead Engineer during development and testing and perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain quality and safety standards.
Qualifications
- A degree in engineering is preferred, with an emphasis on controls, electrical, or software engineering.
- 5+ years of related work experience.
- Experience with industrial protocols including Modbus/TCP and or DNP3 is a plus.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
- Must be self-motivated and a great team worker.
- Experience working with electrical power systems is a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software including Excel and Word.
- Ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
- Hearing and vision within normal ranges, with or without corrective lenses or an assisted hearing device.
- Good manual dexterity is required for occasional wiring, assembly, and din-rail device installation.
- Some lifting is expected; occasional exertion of up to 25 lbs. of force may be required.
- Secondary job requirements include travel with fieldwork which can consist of hiking, construction work, moving heavy objects, and wearing PPE for specific tasks.
